Accounts Payable Specialist

Octagon Professionals is looking for an Accounts Payable Accountant to support the Accounts Payable services in the Netherlands.The Accounts Payable Service supports the Financial Operations Division in analyzing, validating, and approving payments to suppliers, ensuring compliance with internal accounting policies, financial regulations, and supplier-related procedures.Please note that the successful candidate will be employed by Octagon Professionals.The role includes supporting financial operations related to invoice registration, including verification, processing, and registration of invoices and advances:Key ResponsibilitiesInvoice Verification & RegistrationConduct formal checks to determine whether a document qualifies as a valid invoice or advance.Register invoices and advances in the relevant financial system.Data ValidationVerify the accuracy of vendor master data and bank details.Ensure correct account assignment for invoices without prior commitment.Invoice & Payment ProcessingPost invoices and pre-approve advance payment requests in the financial system.Ensure final approval of invoice and advance payment requests is completed before payments are executed.Control and clear down payments according to the applicable procedures.Identify payments ready for processing within a structured repository.Collaboration & CommunicationCoordinate with colleagues within the section for invoice verification and processing.Liaise proactively with initiating services regarding invoices and reimbursement requests.Reporting & Ad Hoc TasksPrepare ad hoc reports and handle special tasks related to accounts payable as needed.RequirementsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in accounts payable or a relevant financial function.IT Skills:SAP expertise (ECC and SRM modules).Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat.VIM/OpenText (Vendor Invoice Management).Electronic mailing systems.Microsoft Teams and collaborative tools (e.g., SharePoint).Excellent numerical skills and a strong accounting background, with the analytical capability to operate within a complex accounting system.A demonstrated service-oriented attitude, strong team spirit, and ability to collaborate effectively in an international environment.Proficiency in English (both written and spoken).
