Job Description

Our international PE-backed client is currently searching for a Head of Internal Audit to join the Team in Austria to help take over and build their internal audit function. This is a hybrid role, with 3 days based in the office. They are open to candidates outside of Austria if you are happy to commute or stay 3 days (ideally Germany). They are also open to relocate. Reporting directly to the Global CFO, you will drive risk-based audit planning, lead internal and outsourced audit teams, and ensure top-quality execution.

You will own the full audit lifecycle planning, execution, and action follow-ups, while guiding governance improvements. You will also offer insights and strategic risk recommendations, be the trusted voice on internal controls, compliance, and assurance across the organisation. The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant having started out their career in Big 4 audit and later moved to industry. You will also have experience in Private Equity backed businesses and will enjoy this environment. They will be looking for someone hands-on, flexible in changing environments, strong communication and highly driven.

Experience in international businesses, ideally within the industrials sector is also a strong preference. Candidate Profile: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certification such as CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), CPA (Certified Public Accountant), or equivalent. Minimum of 10+ years of experience in external and/or internal auditing, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Strong knowledge of internal audit standards, risk management, and governance frameworksProficiency in audit software and data analytics tools & understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Ability to work cross-functionally and with distributed teams (international).
