Job Description
Role OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented and responsible Driver/Pilot to support our Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) data collection project. The role involves operating a test vehicle equipped with advanced sensors, driving along predefined routes, and ensuring accurate data acquisition under different driving and environmental conditions.You will work closely with the local coordinator and technical team to ensure high-quality data, maintain equipment, and adhere to safety and confidentiality protocols.Key ResponsibilitiesOperate the test vehicle across various road and traffic conditionsTravels from Tokyo to North JapanFollow assigned routes with specific driving objectives (e.g., overtaking car carriers, stopping at crossings, or maintaining specific speeds)Update or adjust routes as required in coordination with the local coordinatorComply with all local traffic regulations and project-specific safety requirementsEquipment Operation & MaintenanceMonitor and maintain the rooftop sensor system, including regular cleaning (approximately every 1–2 hours)Oversee the external battery for the measurement system, ensuring it remains charged and operationalHandle prototype vehicles with care, maintaining strict confidentiality and following prescribed covering/protection proceduresData Handling & System ManagementManage and replace data storage media (SSDs, HDDs) as requiredOperate copying stations and perform data backups, following automated processes and data integrity standardsStart, stop, and monitor measurement software during data collection sessionsUse remote desktop connections and related software tools for system monitoring and troubleshootingKey RequirementsValid driver’s license with an excellent driving recordComfortable driving long hours in varying conditions (urban, rural, highway)Basic technical literacy, especially in handling computers, external drives, and remote software toolsStrong attention to detail and commitment to following proceduresAbility to work independently while maintaining clear communication with the coordination teamPreferred QualificationsPrior experience with ADAS, autonomous vehicle testing, or automotive data collection projectsUnderstanding of data handling and backup proceduresFamiliarity with vehicle electronics, sensor systems, or measurement softwareTechnical or engineering background (automotive, IT, or related field)Work EnvironmentField-based role involving significant time on the road with frequent travelsRequires flexibility for varying schedules, weather conditions, and route adjustmentsMay involve occasional travel or overnight stays depending on project scopeWe may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses.
