The Addictions Mental Health Counsellor must be able to function independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team and work cooperatively with multiple service providers. This position requires may require travel throughout the catchment area (Grey and Bruce Counties) to deliver programs and to meet the needs of clients. Responsibility for a case management caseload is required. This position is a member of the Mental Health and Addictions Department and as such may be assigned to another program as needed.RequiredQualifications / Skills / Abilities:Degree in Nursing, Social Work, Psychology or a related health or Social Science fieldAddictions Studies Diploma or Graduate Studies Certificate in Addiction Treatment and Prevention2 years recent experience in addictions treatment, assessment, treatment planning and counsellingKnowledge of Substance Use Disorders and Addiction ServicesKnowledge of the Mental Health Act and familiarity with DSM-VRecent experience working with clients with first episode psychosisDemonstrated knowledge of current best practices in the treatment of substance abuse and concurrent disorders for individuals and familiesProven interpersonal, group and communication skillsAble to work independently and as an interdisciplinary team memberProven ability to work cooperatively in a team settingSound clinical judgement, critical thinking and problem solving skillsSound knowledge of Community Addiction Services and supports locally and provinciallyAbility to advocate, facilitate access to services and coordinate care to meet clients’ needsAbility to respect and maintain confidentialityCurrent certification in CPR and First AidComputer skills including Word, Outlook, and Internet-based applications (to be tested)Able to work all shifts, 24/7Travelling required-possession of a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s license and personal reliable vehicleRecent satisfactory performance and attendance recordsAdherence to GBHS ‘CARE’ Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and ‘LEAD’ Competencies (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others) and a commitment to a safe workplace free of violence and harassmentAdvocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at GBHS through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudesPreferredConcurrent Disorders CertificateGAIN Q3 Certificate
