USNH Employees should apply within Workday through the Jobs Hub appThe Learning through Teaching program is a graduate level program intended for schools who wish for an in-person learning environment, but within their own school environment. Consultants for the program will travel to participating schools to lead regular classes, centered around literacy teaching goals. The goals and specific topics for each school will differ based on school and district needs, as well as teacher needs within the confines of the district mandated literacy curriculum. Consultants will be hired as adjunct faculty, and therefore will act as the conduit between the school and the University of New Hampshire, ensuring that all students meet the requirements to receive approved graduate credits at the conclusion of the coursework.Duties/ResponsibilitiesCreate engaging content suitable for two credits of graduate work, aligned with the theme of the session. Work with teachers of all different backgrounds and grade levels.Lead lessons and demonstrate strategies to participants. Conference with students individually and in groups. Promote individual student ideas and foster independence in creation of lessons, writing units, etc. Coordinate with the other Learning through Teaching teachers and Staff to ensure all students are safe and able to thrive. Minimum Acceptable Education & ExperienceEducation: Master’s degree in education or English.Experience: Minimum of five years’ teaching in either upper elementary (grades 4-6), middle school ELA classroom, or high school English classroom, plus experience teaching college level courses or workshops.
