We meet restaurants where they are, not where software wants them to be.What we doAs an AI Engineer at Bytes AI, you'll help turn cutting-edge research into production-ready voice, text, and video-based agents that serve real restaurant customers every day. You’ll collaborate closely with our NYC-based product and research team, rapidly deploying models that directly impact how restaurants run.This role is remote, but you’ll work closely with a tight-knit team operating in person from our New York office. We move fast, trust deeply, and iterate constantly.What you'll doOptimize ASR, LLM, and TTS models for real-world restaurant environments — busy, noisy, and high-stakes.Fine-tune LLMs, Building retrieval-augmented generation systems (RAG) for the different agents, reinforcement learning (RL), and prompt engineering for dynamic, context-aware conversations.Rapid prototyping of 0 -> 1 Products.Maintaining and scaling of current products 1 -> N.Integrate AI components into agents that handle reservations, takeout, and catering flows end-to-end.Create human-in-the-loop and automated feedback systems to monitor quality and continuously improve performance.Build pipelines that learn from real customer data, driving more adaptive, restaurant-aware AI behavior.Basic Qualifications5–7+ years in building production-ready AI systems, ideally in voice, NLP, or agent systems, but we’re also flexible for the right person.Experience building production systems optimized for low latency and resource efficiency.Strong analytical and data-driven mindset.Passion for creating intuitive, frustration-free AI experiences.BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, or equivalent hands-on expertise.Preferred QualificationsExperience in WebRTC stacks like LiveKit.Experience in building REST APIs for LLM tools.How we workWe optimize for leverage: great internal tools, fast CI/CD, and scalable code.We believe in deep ownership: engineers here talk to users, design features, and ship fast.We value clarity over process: fewer meetings, more building.Our core team works together in New York City, with remote teammates fully integrated into daily collaboration.What we OfferCompetitive salary + equityA real product used by real restaurants, generating real revenueFast feedback loops and zero bureaucracyA small, high-impact team that feels like a founding teamWant to build AI that actually works for restaurants?
