Fantastic opportunity to work for a household brand within the sales and distribution space for an experience senior finance leader with proven commercial and strategic experience. Reporting to the MD of the business, this role is a key position within the SLT and is responsible for the full spectrum of financial management, commercial insight and operational control across a growing £60 mil TO organisation. The role encompasses leadership of a multi discipline finance team and ownership of inventory optimisation and delivery of high quality financial reporting, planning and analysis.
The role is pivotal in driving business performance and enabling strategic decision making. Key responsibilities;Strategic & Commercial LeadershipPartner with the MD and Leadership Team to shape and deliver financial strategy, business planning, and performance improvement. Lead budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning processes, including business cases, bridges, and scenario modelling. Provide commercial insight to support pricing, margin, and investment decisions. Represent the business in Group Finance forums, ensuring compliance and alignment with Group policies and reporting standards. Financial Operations & ControlOversee all financial operations including cash management, reconciliations, month-end close, statutory reporting, and audit.
Ensure robust internal controls and compliance with all relevant legislation (Companies Act, VAT, PAYE, NI, pensions, etc. ). Deliver accurate and timely management accounts, KPIs, and performance review packs. Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, processes, and reporting quality. Inventory & Working Capital ManagementLead the inventory management function, ensuring availability targets in the high 90% range while optimising cash investment. Integrate inventory planning into broader cashflow forecasting and working capital strategy. Oversee stock performance reporting and drive improvements in availability, efficiency, and cost control.
Team Leadership & DevelopmentLead and develop a high-performing finance team across business intelligence, business partnering, management accounting, credit control, and transactional finance. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Build succession plans and support professional development across the team. Required Skills & ExperienceQualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant post-qualification experience. Proven track record in senior finance leadership within a complex, multi-functional environment. Strong commercial acumen and ability to influence strategic decisions. Experience managing inventory and working capital in a fast-paced business. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. High integrity, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence.
