Financial Controller 📍 Location: Nauru 💰 Remuneration: AUD $40,000 – $60,000 p. a. (Commensurate with experience)Position OverviewOur client, Nauru’s most established and trusted business, is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead and modernize our Finance Department. This critical leadership role will focus on improving efficiency, maintaining financial accuracy, ensuring compliance, and implementing cost-effective technologies to drive growth and support decision-making. Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Department ManagementLead, mentor, and grow the finance and accounting team. Foster a high-performance culture and enhance team capability. Redesign workflows to improve accuracy, accountability, and speed. Financial Reporting & ComplianceDeliver timely, accurate monthly and annual financial reports.
Ensure full compliance with Nauruan tax laws, statutory obligations, and IFRS. Coordinate annual stock takes and liaise with tax consultants and stakeholders. Cost Management & EfficiencyEvaluate expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities. Oversee budgeting and cash flow forecasting. Monitor key KPIs and produce accurate price lists for goods/services. Technology & Process ImprovementIntroduce scalable digital tools for accounting, payroll, and inventory tracking. Drive automation in reconciliation, invoicing, and reporting. Collaborate with IT/POS to implement integrated, secure financial systems. Business Partnering & StrategyPartner with Sales, Retail, Operations & Buying teams to provide insights and support. Build a reporting framework aligned with performance goals.
Provide financial modeling for strategic initiatives and new projects. Qualifications & ExperienceCPA or CA qualification required. Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, or Business (Master’s preferred). Minimum 7+ years in finance and accounting, with 3–5 years in a senior finance role (preferably within FMCG, retail, or similar sectors). Proven track record of implementing or upgrading financial systems. Proficient in financial software (e. g. , MYOB, Xero, QuickBooks, ERP). Strong skills in Excel, budgeting, and financial modeling.
