Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Plant Manager is responsible for all facets of the operational side of the business; optimizing the extrusion, and fabrication and packaging processes, maintenance of our plant and equipment, ensuring compliance in the discharge of industrial by-product, and managing a team of Production Supervisors, Technicians, and Maintenance personnel. Duties And ResponsibilitiesThe duties and responsibilities of the Plant Manager are detailed below, but not limited to the following:
Ensure the readiness, reliability, and performance of all operating equipment and services to support ALMAG's operations teams Lead and manage the team in alignment with ALMAG's PROUD values Set clear performance goals for team members, monitor progress, and hold individuals accountable Maintain a safe, compliant, and productive workplace by enforcing PPE use, ensuring optimal product flow, keeping certifications current, organizing workstations, and maintaining proper tool inventory Oversee plant-wide quality functions to ensure alignment with the company's quality policy Support, guide, and oversee talent development and workforce requirements Take ownership of Extrusion, Fabrication, and Packaging processes—from material staging through storage of finished product—continuously improving workflows to optimize capacity Resolve quality issues promptly and effectively Ensure adherence to daily production schedules, communicating any delays or issues proactively Develop and execute a preventative maintenance program for all key plant equipment Maintain compliance with municipal bylaws while striving for the highest practical level of environmental responsibility Train, coach, mentor, and engage team members to foster collaboration and development Establish measurable goals for yourself and your team, conducting performance evaluations based on results Hold regular team meetings to review progress, address challenges, and adjust plans as needed Create and maintain a visual management board to track KPIs, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, seeking strategic partnerships where possible Establish and uphold housekeeping standards throughout the facilityRequirementsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation/ExperienceBachelor's degree in engineering, Administration, Facility Management, or equivalent experience Minimum 5 years' leadership experience in manufacturing Knowledge and experience in aluminium extrusion processes (asset) Proficient in reading blueprints and schematics (asset) Skilled in developing production systems, including process optimization, containment, process flow, control plans, and equipment installation Strong root cause problem-solving skills using tools such as fishbone, Pareto, 5 Whys, and 8D Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment (asset) Experience requirements assessed based on complexity of processes managed and technical expertiseTechnical Skills/CompetenceExceptional organizational skills with proven ability to lead large, multi-project initiatives Expertise in complex problem-solving, process control planning, manufacturing tooling, machine setup, standard work instructions, and continuous improvement (Lean, Six Sigma, 5S)Demonstrates humility, passion for progress, and curiosity Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to coach, mentor, and motivate Proven track record in successfully transforming operations High energy and self-motivated, with the ability to inspire teams to achieve excellence Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Acts as a role model for the company's Core Values and holds team members accountable Strong time management skills with a focus on collaboration and employee relationship building Thrives under pressure, bringing innovation and results-driven focusBenefitsWe offer a full and competitive benefits package including:
