Application Specialist

Job Title: Application Migration Specialist (Contract) Location: Remote, with potential travel to U.S. sites (Must be able to travel up to 20%) Duration: 6+ months (possible extension)**US Citizens only - this client has governmental contracts and Citizenship requirements***Overview: We’re seeking experienced Application Migration Specialists to support a large-scale application and infrastructure migration as part of a cybersecurity compliance and modernization program. The role involves planning, documenting, and executing migrations for a broad portfolio of applications and servers into a secure, compliant environment.Key Responsibilities:Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to gather technical requirements.Analyze existing configurations, dependencies, and integrations.Develop migration runbooks, templates, and validation plans.Coordinate migration schedules and assist with testing and cutovers.Troubleshoot post-migration issues and update DR documentation.Evaluate authentication, security, and connectivity configurations.Required Experience:Strong background in Windows Server, virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), and Active Directory.Hands-on experience with SQL Server, IIS, and application integrations (ERP, APIs, ETL).Proven success in M&A migrations, DR planning, and reverse-engineering undocumented systems.Familiarity with PowerShell, authentication (MFA/SSO), and Linux-based applications.Skills & Traits:Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Exceptional documentation and organizational abilities.Comfortable working independently in complex, fast-changing environments.Flexibility to support off-hours migration work.U.S. citizenship required for compliance purposes.Ideal Candidate: A hands-on migration expert with a balance of infrastructure and application experience, able to navigate ambiguity and ensure smooth, low-risk transitions.
