We have an enviable lifestyle with easy access to World Heritage listed sites, such as Barrington Tops National Park.Your next opportunityWe are seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join Dungog Shire Council as Parks and Gardens Apprentices. Working as part of a small team you will receive mentorship and training with the aim of gaining skills, experience and confidence on-the-job whilst obtaining a formal, nationally recognised qualification. Your daily tasks will involve the use of small plant and equipment to undertake a variety of vegetation maintenance works across the Shire's many parks, grounds and open spaces.We currently have two fixed-term apprenticeships available for up to four years' duration. As part of this position, you will commit to undertaking all relevant training including the successful completion of a Certificate III in Parks and Gardens or a related discipline. This position is offered in line with the Fresh Start for Local Government Apprentices, Trainees and Cadets program in conjunction with the NSW Government.Essential selection criteria include (full criteria in the Position Description below):Completion of NSW School Certificate or equivalentCommitment and eligibility to undertake Certificate III in Parks and GardensProven interpersonal, verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work a part of a teamBe rewardedThe apprenticeship position is offered on a fixed-term full-time basis as a 38-hour, 4-day working week.The position is placed at Trainee - Operational Band 1 of Council's salary system.
