Job Description

Construction Manager (f/m/d)The Construction Manager will play a key role in the Aquila Clean Energy team, leading and contributing to the successful engineering delivery of large-scale renewable energy projects across the country. Operating at the intersection of technical engineering and project execution, the successful candidate will ensure design intent is executed accurately on site and that technical and construction interface issues are managed effectively. This role involves close collaboration with project managers, engineers, contractors, and QA/QC teams to keep projects on track and built to specification.

This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience, mentorship and growth opportunities in the clean energy sector. Your main responsibilities: Construction OversightOversee and manage construction site activities from a technical standpoint, ensuring all work complies with engineering designs and specifications focusing on WHSE, schedule, budget, and quality. Act as the technical point of contact on-site for contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. Design and Technical InterfaceInterpret technical drawings and specifications and communicate requirements to site teams. Identify and resolve technical issues arising during construction in coordination with design engineers. Provide constructability feedback during the design phase.

Schedule and Progress CoordinationWork with the Project Manager and contractors to track progress against schedule and resolve delays or sequencing issues. Participate in construction planning meetings and daily/weekly site coordination. Quality AssuranceConduct field inspections to verify workmanship, material compliance, and adherence to engineering drawings. Support QA/QC teams in developing and implementing inspection and test plans (ITPs). Safety and ComplianceEnsure all technical work complies with relevant HSE standards and project-specific safety requirements. Support the HSE team in implementing and enforcing safety practices. Documentation and ReportingMaintain daily technical site reports, including progress updates, issues encountered, and corrective actions taken.

Manage and track design change requests, RFIs, and as-built documentation in coordination with engineering and project management. Stakeholder CoordinationWork closely with our colleagues across the development and investment teams for the successful execution of the projectsLiaise with our asset management/ engineering colleagues in the various country organizations to ensure consistency in Aquila’s execution and engineering processes and provide support/ training where applicableCoordinate with grid and electrical teams during energization and testing phases. Your qualifications and experienceBachelor’s Degree in a qualitative discipline (e. g. electrical/ mechanical/ civil engineering).

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Construction or Project Management in the field of renewable energies, preferably in New Zealand or Australia. Prior experience in setting up and leading a project team. Ability to manage operations through design, execution and completion. Familiar with latest technology developments in the RE sector in terms of products and system solutions. Hands-on and independent individual who possesses initiative, adaptability and is able to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a multi-cultural team. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project. Fluent in English language. Able and willing to travel extensively within the country.
