They must demonstrate an ability to be empathic and calm while resolving concerns. They must demonstrate problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail and familiarity with business operations, people management, technology, and linguistics. They must demonstrate the ability to balance the need to drive toward operational excellence and to support the needs and concerns of individual team members. They must be service-oriented with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with people across cultures. They will be comfortable working during non-standard business hours to facilitate partnership with staff in other time zones and support local and global events or initiativesResponsibilities30% - Engages with external providers for the purposes of onboarding, training, and relationship management. Supervises the work of external translation, interpretation, and production providers, including giving feedback, training, and leadership to build their capabilities. Typically supervises the translation of at least 3,000,000 words annually and has direct reports.60% - Performs the duties of Language Coordinator, namely: Uses standard processes to ensure the timely completion of projects, including managing communication, project expectations and payment with external translation providers. Balances translation, interpretation, and production workloads for the assigned language(s) through efficient project coordination, including file preparation, task assignment and project tracking. Typically coordinates sensitive, confidential, high-profile projects.5% - Coordinates resolution of human resources, financial, technical and legal needs for volunteer-based teams operating in the assigned language, including recruitment, local budgets, etc.5% - Other duties as assigned by the Area Translation Manager.QualificationsBachelor's degree (preferably in business, linguistics, translation or a related field) or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience with a high degree of expertise (typically seen in a professional translator with at least 8 years of experience) in translation and skill in writing, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and syntax of one or more non-Spanish languages; preference given to native language speakers of assigned languages who meet other qualifications. Plus 3 years of experience in project management or a related field. Proven skills in public speaking, interpersonal communication, team leadership, coaching, time management, project management, problem solving and the ability to work under pressure. Ability to exemplify a compassionate leadership style. Mastery of spoken and written Spanish and at least one other language, including vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and syntax. Broad knowledge of countries, history, culture, current events, customs and values in the countries associated with the languages being translated. Ability to navigate through translation and business management tools, web interfaces, reading briefs and instructions, including entering data and downloading and uploading files. Ability to provide basic technical support to translation and business management systems users. Strong computer skills, including proficiency with operating systems and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of Church doctrine, policies and ecclesiastical organization. Knowledge of word processing, graphic production and language recording best practices.
