Job Description

Overview: The Vice President of Human Resources at Arizona Center for Cancer Care (AZCCC) provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all HR functions across a physician-led, multispecialty medical group. This role partners closely with executive leadership and physician stakeholders to align HR initiatives with clinical and business goals, while also leading employee relations, talent acquisition, workforce planning, compensation, benefits, compliance, and culture-building efforts. Serving both clinical and non-clinical staff, the VP of HR ensures consistent, legally compliant, and people-focused practices that promote employee engagement, operational excellence, and long-term organizational success.

Responsibilities: • Serves as a strategic advisor to the executive leadership team, aligning human resources strategy with clinical and operational objectives to support AZCCC’s mission and physician led model. • Builds and maintains strong partnerships with physician leadership to ensure HR initiatives align with provider expectations, clinical workflow, and long-term organizational goals. • Oversees all aspects of talent management, including workforce planning, physician and clinical recruitment, onboarding, career development, succession planning, and retention strategies across a multi-site medical group.

• Leads the design, implementation, and continuous refinement of HR policies and procedures to ensure consistency, compliance, and cultural alignment throughout the organization. • Champions a high-performance, inclusive culture by driving employee engagement strategies and delivering leadership development programs tailored to clinical and administrative teams. • Oversees compensation and benefits strategy, including physician productivity models, value-based care incentives, and non-clinical total rewards programs, ensuring internal equity and external competitiveness. • Ensures full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including FMLA, ADA, EEO, HIPAA, CMS, and state licensure requirements, in partnership with legal and compliance teams.

• Directs HR operations including payroll, HRIS administration, and workforce analytics to support data-driven decision-making and organizational efficiency. • Leads investigations and employee relations matters, including complex issues involving clinical personnel, ensuring fair resolution and risk mitigation. • Facilitates performance management processes, including executive and provider-level reviews, improvement plans, and ongoing coaching for clinic leaders and managers. • Develops and implements DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging) initiatives that reflect the diverse patient population and workforce at AZCCC. • Oversees organizational change management initiatives, including mergers, expansions, and leadership transitions, while maintaining employee trust and operational stability.

 • Represents AZCCC in external audits, legal proceedings, and regulatory investigations related to HR, employment, or compliance matters. • Collaborates with practice administrators and physician partners on staffing optimization, provider satisfaction, and culture-building initiatives across clinical locations. • Leverages HR data and benchmarking tools to present key workforce insights, drive strategic planning, and inform executive decision-making. • Collaborates with legal, compliance, and finance teams to manage HR-related risk, support audits, and ensure alignment with internal controls. • Promotes a high-performance culture grounded in accountability, transparency, and collaboration across all AZCCC locations.

Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is required. • PHR or SPHR certification is required. • 10 years plus of executive-level human resources leadership experience in a highly matrixed healthcare setting required. • Experience leading recruitment, retention, talent management, and provider onboarding, with a strong understanding of both clinical and administrative workforce needs. • Experience leading complex, fast-paced organizations, including experience working in dyad or partnership leadership models. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to a variety of stakeholders.

• A master’s degree in business administration (MBA), Healthcare Administration (MHA), or a related advanced degree is preferred.
