Job Description

ABOUT TRADE TOOLS Made-to-measure marketing for trades.Trade Tools Marketing is built for the people who actually show up when things break. For plumbers rushing to floods, the HVAC techs keeping homes comfortable, the electricians keeping the lights on, and every other home service business, keeping homes and communities running.A lot of marketing in this space has been pushed into automation. Everything feels ‘plug-n-play’ and generic. We saw an opportunity. Home service businesses don’t need more templates, they need to stand out. They need partners who understand the work and bring the same level of care they bring into someone’s home. That’s what we call blue bootie service (iykyk). It’s our version of white glove treatment but built for home services. We’re building Trade Tools the same way home service businesses start anything: step by step, hands-on and always testing and improving. Strategy, creative and performance tied directly to booked jobs and real outcomes, not vanity metrics.Right now, we’re building the blueprint and the team from the ground up. We’re looking for people who like solving problems, rolling up their sleeves, and doing good work with good people.THE ROLEMake trade brands impossible to ignore. You start with ideas, but you also like the craft. The layouts, the hierarchy, the type choices that make something actually work. You think like an art director, but you build like a maker. You’ll take strategy and turn it into clear visual concepts for Meta ads, YouTube ads, landing pages, video, commercials, campaign content and more. Sometimes you’ll design it yourself. Other times you’ll set the direction and guide our team or our design partners. Either way, the creative starts with you. This is a wide-open landscape with no layers, no committee, no one above telling you what is good or not. You get full control over the execution of your vision (the look, the tone, the vibe), and the responsibility to make sure it performs. And performance isn’t just numbers. Standing out in this category means connecting with real people: homeowners, tradespeople, the doers behind the work. The creative needs to hit them in a way that feels honest and human, not generic. The focus (for now), is ad creative that delivers real results, connects with the people behind the work and still stands out in the category. This is a part-time role with consistent/flexible weekly hours that will grow when we grow.WHAT YOU'LL DODevelop Meta + YouTube ad concepts that feel fresh, scroll-stopping and build trustCreate clear, effective layouts and variations for testing and learningTranslate offers, promos, and seasonal campaigns into visual ideas that performProduce light web/landing page layout concepts when neededGuide our team + design partners with direction and referencesBuild clean, repeatable visual systems that keep the brand cohesivePush the creative further than what trades usually see without over designingWHAT YOU BRINGArt direction or senior design experience (agency or in-house)A portfolio that shows storytelling, taste, and strong visual clarityUnderstanding of how creative performs on Meta, YouTube and other major platformsStrong eye for layout, typography, and message hierarchyComfortable switching between directing and designingClear communicator with sharp instincts and a bias toward actionCurious about new tools, formats, and ways to work smarterWHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE (90 DAYS) A clear visual direction for our core brands and adsA small library of concepts and layouts we can scale and learn fromA repeatable way to turn ideas into testable ad conceptsDETAILSTitle: Art DirectorType: Part-Time, contract/freelanceRate: $65–$75/hrStart: December / JanuaryLocation: Remote (Canada) / GTA preferred
