About This RoleResponsible for designing, organizing and facilitating training & development programmes to enhance employees’ skills and competencies at the workplace. Perform training needs assessments and deliver curriculum and learning materials for managing all phases of training interventions. Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain training programmes and assessments and produce training materials for in-house training programmes/ courses. Coordinate staff training programmes based on organizational and employees’ assessments. Design and implement cost effective competency-based training and assessment programmes to employees to develop required skills and values. Work in conformity with the requirements of the Mine Health and Safety Act and report any deviation.
Amend and revise training programmes as necessary, in order to adapt to changes occurring in the work environment. Evaluate the effectiveness of training programmes and measure the impact of the training on employees’ skills development and productivity. Generate and update Standard Operational Procedures as required. Train employees on General and respective Machine/Job Specific SOPs for Surface Operations, Underground Operations, Engineering when the need arise. Support the development of a continuous improvement culture to ensure training and development remains a top priority for improving process work quality in the process department.
Responsible for quality data update for Process Plant and Plant EngineeringCoordinate both classroom and on-the-job practical scheduling and arrangement of Process Operations training for both employees and contractorsResponsible for periodic review of all training SOPs for Process Plant Operations. Train employees as part of the International Cyanide Management Institute compliance requirementsConducts training needs assessment by collecting information pertaining to work procedures, workflow, and reports, understanding job-specific functions and tasks. Contribute to the provision of an appropriately trained and skillful workforce for the Process Plant and plant Engineering Team. Lead sectional toolbox meetings.
Liaise with external educational institutions to plan and ensure a successful students educational tour on site. Develop effective training programmes for new staff, national service as well as graduate trainees and monitor and review the progress of trainees through evaluations and discussions with managersPlan and assess the 'return on investment' of any training or development programme. Participate in site internal audits to help identify and eliminate substandard practicesSupport the training of Process employees for Minerals Commission statutory exams to ensure their competency in Ghanaian minerals regulations. Liaise with the Process Plant Management to receive recommended candidates for training.
Schedule classes, assessments, and certifications to capacitate a trained and skillful workforce for Process teamCoordinate all OEM & Vendor training and competency development programs for employees at the Process Plant. Perform other duties as may be reasonably assigned by your supervisorEducation, Work Experience & Key CompetenciesBachelor’s degree in Metallurgy/Minerals/Chemical Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution. Trainer’s Certificate of Competency from the Inspectorate Division of MINCOM. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite. Valid Ghanaian driver’s license. Ability to operate Surface and plant mobile equipment.
Light Vehicle Instructor Certificate of Competency from Driver and Vehicle License AuthorityMust have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in mining operations and good understanding of Process Standard Operating Procedures. Must have knowledge and understanding of the Duty of Care Standards, Occupational Health & Safety Regulations 2012 L. I 2182, and Mining Inspection Act & Regulations. Must have thorough understanding of Process Plant and Surface Mining Operations and solid safety performance at the personal and professional level.
Demonstrate knowledge of metallurgical processing, preferably in the areas of Crushing and Milling, Carbon in Leach, Pre-leach thickening and Tailings operationsMust be able to take initiatives, multi-tasks and prioritize workloads. Must be proactive and with good problem-solving skills. Experience with development of training records management systems and localization plans. Experience in classroom and field-based training techniques. Ability to write detailed correspondence and detailed training manuals and course materialProficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (preferably advanced Excel and Power point). Must act with integrity & professionalism.
Demonstrated success in the development, delivery and assessment of processing and maintenance related training programs. Possess knowledge of competency-based curriculum. Demonstrates a clear understanding of Training Legislative requirements within Ghana, for mining and processing environments.
