The Facultative and London market reinsurance products are supported by the capacity and security of Ascot’s leading Lloyd’s syndicate, coupled with local expertise. Our Bermuda reinsurance products are written on “A” rated paper. We are seeking a Specialty Treaty Underwriter to join the Bermuda Specialty reinsurance team.
This individual will help grow and manage a diverse portfolio of specialty reinsurance with responsibilities in such lines as Cyber, Credit, Mortgage, Surety, and Crisis Management. Key Duties And Responsibilities Underwrite a portfolio of proportional and excess of loss reinsurance, utilizing a variety of both experience and exposure based analytical techniques as well as qualitative analysis. Lead negotiations on treaty renewals including the structuring and quoting of deals. Effectively communicate and build relationships with reinsurance intermediaries and cedents. Participate in conferences, seminars, industry events, and cedent meetings.
Work closely with actuarial, finance, operations, and other business partners to build portfolio metrics and perform ad-hoc analyses. Manage, motivate and train junior staff Other duties as required Minimum Skills and Experience Required 7+ years of relevant treaty reinsurance experience obtained at a leading carrier or intermediary. Existing strong relationships in US and UK markets, with proven ability to grow a network of broker and client relationships across diverse lines of business. Commercial awareness with the ability to find solutions.
Self-starting entrepreneurial attitude Command of reinsurance structures, pricing techniques, contract wording, and claims Background in Specialty reinsurance with experience in Cyber is strongly preferred. Comprehensive understanding of modeling principles for both pricing and exposure management, with hands-on experience working with cat models and exposure rating tools. Experience with actuarial pricing techniques (burn costing, curve fitting, triangle development etc. ) Strong analytical, oral, written, and interpersonal skills. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with knowledge in VBA
