IntroductionAPACMed is a regional industry association headquartered in Singapore representing over 350 member companies both, manufacturers and suppliers of medical devices and in vitro diagnostics, industry associations and other key stakeholders associated with the medical technology industry in Asia Pacific. We work proactively with bilateral, regional, and local government bodies to shape policies, demonstrate the value of innovation and promote regulatory harmonization.
We engage with medical device associations and companies in Asia Pacific to jointly advance regional issues, code of ethics and share best practices. APACMed envisions to be the Thought-Leader, Knowledge Network and Trusted Partner to Government of Korea and shape policies in Korea through strengthening systems, driving access and affordability in healthcare, promoting a robust and sustainable ecosystem that encourages investment, trade and innovation. Role of Manager, South KoreaAs the Manager for South Korea, you will be pivotal in strengthening APACMed's presence and impact in the South Korean market. Your key responsibilities will include:
Establishing Presence and Brand-Spearhead efforts to establish APACMed’s presence, enhance brand visibility, and engage key stakeholders in Korea, ensuring alignment with the broader regional strategy. Strategic Leadership- Develop and execute a comprehensive in country strategy aligned with APACMed’s regional goals and to drive the association's growth and impact in South Korea. This includes overseeing government affairs, market access, regulatory affairs, and health data initiatives. Stakeholder Engagement- Foster collaborations with industry associations, healthcare providers, and other relevant stakeholders to create a unified voice for the medical technology industry.
Government Relations- Conduct stakeholder mapping and build strategic relationships with key government officials, regulators, and policymakers to shape and influence healthcare policies and regulatory frameworks. Member and External Stakeholder Relations- Build and sustain strong connections with APACMed members, as well as external stakeholders, including local trade associations such as KMDIA, to ensure active participation and collaboration. Policy Monitoring and Advocacy- Track upcoming policy initiatives and sector reforms, ensuring proactive advocacy and timely engagement with government agencies to influence decision-making.
Thought Leadership- Position APACMed as a leading voice in the Korean healthcare industry by contributing to publications, delivering presentations, and representing the association in government committees and working groups that impact policy decisions. Research and Communication- Develop well-researched narratives and position papers that communicate APACMed’s stance on regulatory, policy, and government issues, including recommendations, concept notes, knowledge papers, press releases, and articles. Periodic report out to CEO and Board of Directors.
Desired Qualification/Profile Advanced degree in relevant field (preferably Master’s in Pharma/Biotech/ Economics/ International Affairs/Communication) with understanding and exposure to policy advocacy, regulatory affairs, stakeholder management especially with government. Work experience in Healthcare. MedTech, Pharma, Chambers of Commerce, Trade Associations, Multi-Bi Laterals, Government, Academia, Think Tanks, Consulting/Public Affairs is preferred. Deep understanding of the Korean healthcare landscape, including regulatory framework, reimbursement policies, and market dynamics. A strong existing network within the Korean healthcare industry (preferable). Proven track record in government relations, policy advocacy, and stakeholder engagementA strong understanding of Korean culture and business practices.
Relevant Experience of 15 years +. Desired Competencies (Non-Negotiable)Based in South Korea and has the required permit to work. Demonstrated strong leadership, project management and entrepreneurial skills. Excellent communication (written, and spoken in Korean and English) and presentation skills. Pro-active and self-starter. Ability to organize, prioritize workload, and multi-task. Team player, meticulous and reliable.
