We’re now looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our team, someone with solid finance foundations who’s ready to take the next step in their career and continue developing their skills in a growing, ambitious company.The RoleAs Assistant Accountant, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving the financial operations of the business, while also supporting the smooth running of our London Head Office. Working closely with the Head of Finance, you’ll be involved in day-to-day accounting tasks, month-end processes, and the preparation of management information, alongside occasional operational and administrative support to ensure the wider team runs efficiently.This role is ideal for someone who is AAT qualified or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA and looking to gain broad experience in a commercial finance environment, combining core accounting exposure with the variety that comes from working in a dynamic, fast-growing business.**** Key Responsibilities ****Financial OperationsPrepare and process weekly payment runs and maintain supplier relationships.Manage purchase ledger and resolve invoice or payment queries promptly.Create, issue, and reconcile sales invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely collection.Conduct daily bank reconciliations and manage credit card transactions.Monitor and record employee expenses in line with company policies.Support month-end close, including accruals, prepayments, and journal postings.Assist with balance sheet reconciliations and maintain supporting documentation.Provide information to external auditors during annual audits.Financial Reporting & AnalysisAssist in preparing monthly management accounts and variance analysis.Contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes.Support the Head of Finance with ad-hoc analysis and financial modelling.Identify and help implement process improvements across finance systems and reporting.Additional responsibilitiesMaking and managing travel bookings, including flights and accommodation both on a regular basis and for larger events.Supporting with the administration for new joiners, including equipment ordering.Ad-hoc assistance tasks as required, e.g. diary management and meeting room bookings.Take ownership of the smooth running of the London Head Office, overseeing all aspects of office administration, consumables, and equipment.Essential Experience & Skills1–3 years of experience in a finance or accounting role.AAT qualified or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA.Good understanding of purchase and sales ledger processes.Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, basic formulas).Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Xero).Knowledge of payroll, VAT and FXExcellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organisation skills.Proactive, eager to learn, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.DesirableExperience in an ecommerce or retail business.Exposure to month-end or management accounts preparation.Equal Opportunity Statement:At UKLASH we believe that a great team is made up of people from a wide variety of backgrounds, beliefs and experiences.
