Job DescriptionThe RoleThe Assistant Controller will support the Head of Finance in maintaining a strong financial control environment and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting for Canopius Bermuda. This role is ideal for a qualified accountant with solid technical skills and a proactive mindset, looking to grow within a dynamic and expanding reinsurance platform.The Assistant Controller will assist in financial reporting, regulatory submissions, audit coordination, and process improvements, contributing to the efficiency and integrity of the finance function.ResponsibilitiesAccounting and ReportingAssist in maintaining accurate general ledger records and performing reconciliations.Support the preparation of internal and external financial reports, including regulatory filings to the BMA.Collaborate with actuarial and capital reserving teams on regulatory submissions.Help prepare financial reports for the Board and management, ensuring timely and accurate insights.Contribute to performance analysis and budgeting processes alongside the FP&A team.Support the audit process by coordinating deliverables and addressing auditor queries.Monitor changes in financial reporting standards and assist in implementing necessary updates.Respond to ad-hoc technical accounting queries under guidance from the Head of Finance.Systems and Process ImprovementIdentify opportunities to improve financial reporting processes and system efficiencies.Collaborate with group teams on system implementations and reporting tools relevant to Bermuda entities.Assist in managing finance-related projects and resolving issues arising from process changes.QualificationsFully qualified accountant (CA, ACA, CPA) with 3â5 years post-qualified experience.Familiarity with Bermuda regulatory requirements for Class 4 insurers is preferred.Exposure to Lloydâs Syndicate or London Market accounting is an asset.Working knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, or UK GAAP, especially in insurance/reinsurance contexts.Experience with finance systems and process improvement initiatives is desirable.Our Benefits ABOUT US We offer all employees a comprehensive benefits package that focuses on their whole wellbeing.
