BIAC has become the preferred venue for resolving commercial and other disputes, both domestic and international, and its arbitration awards are recognized under the New York Convention, ensuring enforceability in over 170 jurisdictions.Role DescriptionThis is a full-time on-site role for an Assistant Counsel at the Bangladesh International Arbitration Centre (BIAC) located in Dhaka. The Assistant Counsel will be responsible for assisting the Senior Counsel in🔹Assist in administering arbitration and mediation cases in accordance with BIAC rules and procedures🔹Coordinate communications between parties, arbitrators, and the BIAC Secretariat🔹Draft legal correspondence, procedural documents, case summaries, and hearing-related materials🔹Conduct legal and policy research on arbitration and ADR developments🔹Facilitate tribunal secretary functions, including hearing preparation, document management, and logistical support🔹Support planning and delivery of training programmes, workshops, and other capacity-building initiatives🔹Manage training-related logistical arrangements, including participant coordination, venue preparation, and material organisation🔹Assist in institutional outreach, partnerships, and awareness activities to promote ADR🔹Ensure proper record-keeping, confidentiality, and compliance with institutional standards🔹Prepare periodic reports, publications, and policy materials related to arbitration and mediation🔹Perform any other duties assigned by the Chief Executive Officer or the Senior CounselQualifications🔹Successfully completed degree in law or business 🔹Solid knowledge of civil procedure law, including a good understanding of international commercial arbitration and mediation (experience through participation in an Arbitration Moot Court, relevant law firm practice, judicial clerkship, or trainee lawyer experience is an advantage)🔹Excellent computer skills (MS Office, Canva, InDesign, etc.)🔹Outstanding command of English, both written and spoken🔹Excellent legal research skills🔹Additional foreign language(s) are an advantage🔹Affinity for new media and digitalizationWhen applying, please email the following documents:🔹Motivation letter🔹Curriculum vitae➡ Location: Bangladesh International Arbitration Centre (BIAC), Unique Heights, 13th Floor, 117 Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue, Dhaka 1217 🕜 Office Hours: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM (Sunday-Thursday) 📞 Application:Interested candidates, please email: info@biac.org.bd
