Assistant Director of Outdoor RecreationGeorgia Institute of Technology – Campus Recreation | Atlanta, GA 💰 Salary Range: $74,697 – $85,500 📅 Applications close: November 11, 2025About the RoleGeorgia Tech Campus Recreation is seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Director of Outdoor Recreation to lead and advance one of the most comprehensive collegiate outdoor programs in the country. This position oversees our Leadership Challenge Course, Adventure Trips program, Bike Shop, Climbing Wall (featuring a brand-new Kilter Board), and Gear Rental Shop.The Assistant Director provides vision and leadership for outdoor and experiential learning initiatives that foster student development, leadership, and well-being. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for the outdoors, strong operational and team-building skills, and a commitment to the values of innovation, inclusion, and collaboration.ResponsibilitiesOversee daily operations for all Outdoor Recreation programs and facilities.Develop and implement policies, procedures, and risk management practices.Supervise budgets, technology systems, and program data to drive decisions.Cultivate campus and community partnerships, sponsorships, and donor relationships.Lead marketing and engagement efforts to promote participation and visibility.Provide leadership to student staff and ensure alignment with Campus Recreation’s mission and Georgia Tech’s institutional values.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.4+ years of related professional experience.CPR/First Aid Instructor certification (within 30 days of hire).Wilderness First Aid, WFR, or WEMT certification (within 6 months of hire).Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in recreation, education, leadership, or related field.Experience in high/low ropes facilitation, climbing instruction, or rescue operations.6–7 years of progressively responsible outdoor recreation management experience.About Georgia TechGeorgia Tech is a top-ranked public research university located in the heart of Atlanta, serving over 45,000 students across engineering, computing, business, design, and the liberal arts.
