The Franklin College of Arts and Sciences has a rich history and boasts a strong and diverse research portfolio. Research in the Departments of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Genetics and Microbiology span a broad range of established and emerging subdisciplines in the chemical and life sciences, including molecular medicine, computational molecular sciences, glycobiology, chemical and biological education, physical, organic, analytical, inorganic, chemical biology and materials chemistry. There are outstanding opportunities for collaborations with faculty across the Franklin College’s physical and life sciences departments, as well as with faculty in the Colleges of Engineering, VetMed, Agriculture, Pharmacy, and Public Health, among others. Furthermore, UGA recently launched a School of Medicine with an expanding research portfolio. UGA maintains core facilities in microscopy, computation (GACRC, Institute for AI and Institute of Bioinformatics), flow cytometry, animal health, genomics, glycobiology, NMR, mass spectrometry, electron microscopy, and x-ray crystallography (including the SER-CAT beamlines) among other resources.
