Job DescriptionPosition Title: Assistant Programme ManagerTerm of Employment: Full-timeReporting To: Programme ManagerReporting Location: South of Johor (Pengerang area)Starting date: January 2026Organization Overview:Reef Check Malaysia is a leading marine conservation NGO seeking a highly motivated and dynamic professional to join our team as an Assistant Programme Manager. The position is based in South of Johor area with some travel required within the country.Job Purpose:The Assistant Programme Manager will play a pivotal role in assisting the implementation of our long-term marine conservation programme, with a primary focus on supporting seagrass and mangrove ecosystems in Johor. Additionally, this position will involve active participation in Reef Check Malaysia's EcoAction, Science, Advocacy, and Management programmes across Malaysia.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport Programme Managers in executing field-based activities in line with conservation objectives.Engage and mobilise local communities to actively participate in the conservation and co-management of coastal marine ecosystems vital to their livelihoods, food security, and cultural identity.Implement regular water quality and seafood monitoring to identify pollutants and share findings with relevant stakeholders.Facilitate awareness and educational activities that promote the importance of preserving mangrove and seagrass ecosystems.Assist in the development of the South Johor Marine Ecosystem Conservation Strategy with local stakeholder input.Support the planning and facilitation of pilot conservation initiatives involving community members.Deliver training and support for supplementary livelihood development, especially in ecotourism products and services.Liaise with local communities and maintain good relationships with key stakeholders.Create content and provide timely updates to Communications Executive for Reef Check Malaysia’s social media accounts.Maintain monthly cash accounts and provide timely updates to Administrative Assistant for audits.Support the Programme Manager in project reporting and budget management.Perform other duties as required to contribute to the organization's objectives.Candidate Profile:•      Experienced in mangrove and/or seagrass conservation with hands-on experience working with communities•      Self-driven and capable of working independently with minimal supervision•      Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong organizational abilities•      Proactive and comfortable in public engagements and community-centred programmes•      A diving license is not mandatory but will be considered an advantageRequirements:Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline, preferably in environment-related fieldsMinimum of 2 years of professional experience in conservation or a related fieldProficient in written and verbal communication in Bahasa Malaysia and EnglishProficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) softwareValid driver’s license with own transport for travel to and from project siteRight to work in Malaysia (We are unable to sponsor working visas)Interested applicants must send their cover letter and CV to hr@reefcheck.org.my by 30 November 2025.
