You will provide oversight, subject matter expertise, and ensure that operational processes are executed with accuracy, timeliness, and strong risk controls. This role requires proactive issue management, collaboration with business partners, and a strong focus on driving efficiency and risk mitigation.Team SummaryThe Settlements team within the Investment Operations department is responsible for managing and overseeing the affirmation and confirmation and settlement of various public market listed transactions, including Equities, Bonds, Repurchase Agreements, Money markets, Securities borrow and lend and Foreign Exchange transactions. The team plays a critical role in supporting CPPIB’s trading and execution activity, ensuring process and control efficiency, and maintaining strong internal and external partnerships.AccountabilitiesEnsure trades are processed, reconciled, and settled accurately and in line with market deadlines and internal policies.Establish and monitor key metrics and risk indicators, escalating and resolving issues in a timely manner.Act as a subject matter expert across various listed public transaction types (including equities, fixed income/repo, money market and FX settlement processes).Provide guidance on complex or escalated issues, ensuring best practices and regulatory requirements are met.Support business initiatives with expertise in market operations and post-trade processes.Partner with internal stakeholders such as Trading, Portfolio Management, Finance, Legal, Compliance, and other Investment Operations teams to support business objectives and resolve trade-related issues.Build and maintain strong relationships with external brokers, custodians, and prime brokers to ensure smooth settlement and issue resolution.Represent the team in internal and external forums and initiatives to strengthen operational alignment, and engagement.Identify opportunities to streamline processes, automate workflows, and drive efficiency gains.Ensure strong governance and controls are in place to mitigate operational, financial, and reputational risks.Continuously assess processes for potential gaps, implementing improvements to enhance resilience and efficiency.Manage, coach, and develop team members to build expertise and support career growth and talent pipeline.Foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and collaboration.Provide clear structure, expectations, and feedback to enable strong team performance.QualificationsUndergraduate degree or college diploma in related field.6+ years of relevant experience.Professional designations such as a CBV, CFA, CPA are considered an asset.Strong analytical, financial and management accounting skills will be necessary to perform this role.Experience with Bloomberg, SimCorp, trade affirmation/matching platformsAdvanced Excel skills and comfortable learning new systems.Familiarity/Experience using Chat GPT and other tools that leverage Artificial IntelligenceAble to synthesize larger amounts of complex information, clarify and evaluate significance and provide value add insights in investment analysis, reporting systems and computer applications.Ability to identify potential cross-functional gaps or risks and proposes effective solutions along with appropriate governance and controls to mitigate the identified risks.Ability to understand issues relevant to the broad organization and the businesses strategic goals.Additional InformationVisit our LinkedIn Career Page or Follow us on LinkedIn.
