The Department of People and Technology at Roskilde University invites applications for a permanent position as Associate Professor in Social Psychology of Everyday Life. The position is available from August 1, 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.Department of People and Technology covers a range of subject areas, broadly focused on human – society – technology interactions and covering topics as sustainable transitions of society, social psychology and education, social entrepreneurship, urban planning, digitalization and data science, welfare, and health studies. The position is based at the Section for Psychology and Education and is linked to the research group Subject, Technology and Social Practice (STP). In STP, basic research in social psychology is combined with innovative applications. The research group focuses on analyzing the experiences and activities across various contexts of human subjects in concrete problems of their everyday life. Today technologies play a vital part in coordinating social activities and subjectivity in the plurality of contexts, which is the basis of modern social life. Through the study of the social organization of human practices (e.g. in a workplace, a childcare center, or a health care practice) the research aims to analyze relations between the challenges of everyday life, perspectives, and technologies.Read more about STP at https://forskning.ruc.dk/en/organisations/subjekt-teknologi-og-social-praksis/Responsibilities and tasksThe associated professor’s main tasks are to undertake research and research-based teaching within the field of research. You will be required to teach, supervise and assess students at BSc and MSc levels as well as PhD students.The ideal candidate is expected to:Conduct research within social psychology of everyday life with special emphasis on the meaning of technology, digitalization, and AI in everyday life and work settingsundertake teaching in the graduate program of social psychology and learningundertake teaching in the undergraduate programs in the humanities, including psychology, and in the humanities and technologyundertake teaching and supervision at postgraduate levelregularly publish in national and international quality journals and publishing houses in the fieldtake responsibility for the guidance and supervision of assistant professors and post docscontribute to the administrative responsibilities of the department and academic assessmentparticipate in the department’s communication with the broader publicQualificationsApplicants must hold a PhD degree or equivalent within psychology.Qualifications within several of the following scientific areas are required:Substantial experience with research within social psychology of everyday life with special emphasis on the meaning of technology, digitalization, and AI in everyday life and work settingsa versatile competence profile anchored theoretically, methodologically, and empirically in psychologyan educational background within psychology with psychological research and teaching experienceexperience and qualifications in Problem-Oriented Project Learningresearch experience within broader social psychological dimensions of everyday life is appreciatedScientific qualifications such as an assistant professor or equivalent in relation to the above mentioned subject areas must be documented.The ideal candidate will be a visible, communicative and involved participant in the department’s daily activities, in addition to being willing to engage in disciplinary and interdisciplinary collaboration across the department.QuestionsFurther information may be obtained by contacting Head of Section Hans H.
