Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.Job SummarySupervises the comprehensive medical care of assigned students and/or student athletes. Provides medical coverage for department or athletic events. Supervises Athletic Trainer Interns and student athletic trainers in the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.ResponsibilitiesKEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides comprehensive prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and daily healthcare for assigned students and/or student-athletes Maintains accurate and HIPAA-compliant medical records for all assigned individuals Completes administrative duties as assigned by departmental leadership Develops and enforces institutional policies related to the medical care of students and student-athletes Maintains consistent and effective communication with medical personnel and athletic department staff Serves as a subject matter expert on relevant aspects of Athletic Training services Educates students and athletes on injury management, concussion protocols, at-home care, and rehabilitation procedures Designs and implements individualized rehabilitation and injury prevention plans based on each student's needs and goals Refers students and athletes to appropriate healthcare professionals to ensure optimal care when necessary Reviews and updates relevant policies, procedures, treatment protocols, and standing medical orders Collaborates with appropriate personnel to develop and maintain Emergency Action Plans for all athletic facilities Manages inventory and ensures proper maintenance of medical supplies, equipment, AEDs, medical kits, supplements, and Athletic Training Room (ATR) cleanliness and organizationRequired QualificationsEducational RequirementsBachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Athletic Training or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experienceOther Required QualificationsCurrent, valid, and unrestricted driver's licenseState of Georgia Athletic Training LicensureNATABOC CertificationFirst Aid/CPR/AED certificationRequired ExperienceOn-the-job training providedPreferred QualificationsPreferred Educational QualificationsAn advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related fieldPreferred ExperienceExperience in collegiate sports athletic training or rehabilitationPrevious relevant experience in athletic training in a post-secondary level program or professional training in a related sports programAbilitiesKnowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesAble to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time, meeting assigned deadlinesAble to maintain confidentiality (HIPAA, FERPA, etc.) in matters relating to employees, community members, patients, family, and visitorsAble to effectively integrating university and department policy into care practicesAble to maintain a strong working relationship with the supervising physician and/or practiceAble to develop and maintain professional contacts and resources that support work productivityAble and willing to demonstrate and maintain competency as required for job title and the area(s) of responsibilityAble to adhere to and ensure compliance with all HIPPA standards and regulationsKNOWLEDGEFamiliarity with NCAA rules and compliance standardsKnowledge and experience with software related to healthcare managementKnowledge of standards and best practices in sports medicineKnowledge of conservative RTP interpretation, emerging techniques and skills, current industry research, data results, and applicationUnderstands industry standards and accepted practicesExperience with empowering and motivating studentsSkillsExcellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, technology, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skillsProficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)Strong treatment tracking and notesStrong attention to detail and follow up skillsStrong customer service skills and phone etiquetteUSG Core ValuesThe University System of Georgia is comprised of our 26 institutions of higher education and learning as well as the System Office.
