In addition, the Field Engineer will also assist with any other programs or opportunities globally as needed and directed. The objective of this position is to conduct routine maintenance on instrumentation and ensure that contractual agreed quantities of instrumentation are available to the client and our partners. Travel inside Democratic Republic of Congo and occasional international travel to meet the objectives of the business to install and maintain instrumentation. BS in Science or Engineering> 5 years’ experience working with technology (IT, science, engineering, or chemistry)Proficiency with Windows software troubleshootingExperience in the use of and basic maintenance of laboratory analytical equipmentPossess the ability to perform moderate to complex troubleshooting activities on various lab instrumentation in an independent manner, following required proceduresGood mechanical aptitudeBasic understanding of software trouble shootingAbility to exercise complex analytical skills and to make decisions based on established company guidelinesExcellent communication in written and verbal formPossess excellent customer service skillsDetail-oriented and organized with strong initiative and sense of ownership with all aspects of the jobComfort and flexibility to travel internationally if requiredEffective time managementSPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Due to the work requirements of this position, it is not a normal Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 job;There may be occasions when work will be required in the evenings and or at weekends.
There may be a requirement to travel some weekends or evenings. There is an amount of travelling involved and candidates should have no barriers or impediments to travel by air, road, rail or seaThe candidate will report to the Vice President West & Central Africa however, some day to day activity may also be given by the Program Instrumentation Manager, the In Country Program Management and or the Senior Director of Field Maintenance. Fluency in EnglishFrench language proficiency would be advantageousSpecific experience in the setup, maintenance and basic repair of GC, GC-MS and or Fluorimeters would be advantageousWORK REQUIREMENTSEnvironment:
Work is performed primarily in a standard workshop, third party laboratory or work site environment. Employees may work under the stress of regular interdepartmental interaction and pressure to meet various deadlines. Physical: Essential functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a standard workshop, third party laboratory or work site setting.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and/or sit for prolonged periods of time; must be able to hear and verbally communicate in order to exchange information in person or over the phone; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach and twist; to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 25 pounds of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement; to occasionally travel to other locations using various modes of private or commercial transportation.
