Our business model fosters an entrepreneurial mindset, empowering our teams to take ownership, find creative solutions, and drive impact.GENERAL PURPOSEThis role leads the strategic development, implementation, and optimization of automation, electrical, and instrumentation systems across Seaboard’s global milling and trading operations. The AE&I Leader ensures operational safety, reliability and compliance with international standards while supporting capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives in diverse and often remote environments.Duties And Responsibilities Project Leadership: Support capital projects from concept to commissioning, including vendor qualification, selection, technical specifications, and site support. Electrical Systems Oversight: Provide leadership and expertise in the evaluation, design, installation, and maintenance of electrical infrastructure, including motor control centers and backup power systems. Automation Strategy & Execution: Prioritize the Upgrade and/or design of new automation systems (PLC, SCADA, HMI) across a variety of sites (flour and feed mills, grain elevators, pasta production, bakeries and port facilities). Instrumentation & Controls: Specify instrumentation standards for process control (e.g., flow, temperature, load cells, AI inspection) and integrate with plant automation. ERP Integration: Represent operations automation and data integration into future ERP systems Global Standardization: Develop global E&I standards and documentation across all SOTG sites to ensure consistency, compliance and reduce risk. Troubleshooting & Support: Provide remote and on-site technical support for AE&I systems, including diagnostics and failure analysis. Training & Capacity Building: Connect with local teams to recommend and deliver training on automation platforms, safety protocols, and maintenance best practices in AE&I realm. Sustainability & Efficiency: Recommend and support energy optimization initiatives. Education And Experience Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field 5+ years of experience in industrial automation and electrical systems, preferably in milling or agricultural processing Other Qualifications Expertise in PLCs (Siemens, Allen-Bradley), SCADA systems, and industrial networking Familiarity with international electrical codes (IEC, NEC), ATEX/NFPA standards, and safety instrumented systems Experience working in developing countries and remote locations Fluency in English is required; Additionally, French is preferred Willingness to travel internationally up to 30-50% WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDSWork is performed in a professional office environment and involves frequent contact with others as part of Seaboard’s collaborative culture. This position is office-based with frequent travel to Seaboard-affiliated sites across Africa, South America, and the Caribbean. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to hear and communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and with sufficient mobility to perform assigned tasks. Regular use of standard office equipment, such as computers and phones, is required. This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended sitting and standing.
