Automation Engineer

Automation Engineer (80–100%)Overview: A pharmaceutical manufacturing site is looking for an Automation Engineer to support a Greenfield project from the early construction phase through to the operational launch of a new production facility. This role will focus on ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of HVAC and utility systems controlled by a Process Control System, while enabling reliable performance and regulatory approval.Key Responsibilities:Provide technical expertise in Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and interfacing technologies (e.g. OPC-UA) for integration into MES or data historian systemsAct as System Owner responsible for cost-effective and reliable operationsLead troubleshooting and perform technical analyses on automation systems and manufacturing equipmentMaintain complete and up-to-date system documentation and ensure ongoing qualification statusCoordinate with equipment and automation vendors during implementation and issue resolutionManage deviations and change controls within your area of responsibilitySupport the plant's readiness for audits and validation proceduresRequirements:Degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fieldExperience with Distributed Control Systems (preferably Emerson DeltaV)Previous work in GMP-regulated environments or similarly strict industrial settingsStrong problem-solving skills and hands-on experience with automation troubleshootingAbility to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environmentFluency in English is required; German is a strong plusWhat’s Offered:Opportunity to shape automation systems from the ground up in a Greenfield projectFlexible contract options – suitable for freelancers or full-time professionalsA dynamic and collaborative work cultureCompetitive salary or freelance rateExposure to leading-edge technology in a regulated pharmaceutical setting
