Douglas Control & Automation are seeking a AVEVA System Platform/Intouch SME to join our ever growing Secondment team in Cork.This long term position can be facilitated as either a full time staff position or as a contractor.Position OverviewReporting to our clients Global Operation Technology (OT) Lead, this is a central engineering role. The key focus will be supporting and working with the global automation group on the delivery and sustainment of OT projects.The Senior Automation Engineer will primarily support:OT/Automation Domain Migration projectSAP MII MES rolloutsSustainment of existing Aveva MES > Aveva system platform > PLC Globally.This role requires a strong technical focus and close interaction with vendors, site engineering, and IT/OT stakeholders.KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIESProvide technical support for OT domain migration, including identification of connected devices, systems, and applications.Manage and coordinate vendors and system integrators delivering discrete automation work packages.Deliver sustainment and troubleshooting of OT systems, ensuring a reliable data flow from PLCs through SCADA into connected systems.Review vendor proposals, participate in clarification meetings, and assess technical compliance against our clients standards.Ensure all automation work is aligned with our clients automation specifications, compliance standards, and industry best practices.Prepare and maintain relevant technical documentation to support ongoing operations and knowledge transfer.Support incident response, system patching, and integration of new devices or systems into existing OT environments.Work collaboratively with engineering, maintenance, IT, and cybersecurity teams to ensure successful delivery and ongoing support of OT projects.REQUIREMENTSDegree or equivalent in Automation.5+ years’ experience in automation/OT engineering within food, beverage, chemical, or pharmaceutical environments.Strong hands-on experience with InTouch, and System Platform.Good knowledge of Rockwell PLCs,Good knowledge of databases (SQL) and integration with SCADA/automation systems.Experience working with and managing vendors/System Integrators on OT/automation projects.Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, OPC UA, MQTT desirable).Understanding of cybersecurity and IT/OT convergence principles (ISA-62443 an advantage).Excellent troubleshooting skills across PLC/SCADA/OT environments.Effective communicator, with strong organisation skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.Flexibility for occasional travelWhy Douglas Control & Automation?We are the longest established Irish company in the automation sector, with an enviable record of successfully implemented, innovative and cost effective projects.Our customers cover the entire manufacturing and utilities sectors and include pharmaceutical, biotech, chemical, semiconductor, food and beverage, mining, transport and water treatment industries.We are authorised distributors for Siemens and Stahl automation productsLong term project opportunity.Competitive contract or staff rate
