Mechanical Construction Foreman

BAC Group is seeking to employ an individual with previous experience as a Mechanical Construction Foreman.  The individual will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the work activities of a staff of plumbing and piping trades.  The successful individual must be skilled in the layout and implementation of varied and complex piping system, as they apply to HVAC piping systems, steam and plumbing systems.  The individual will also be responsible for reviewing and suggesting changes in preliminary building mechanical plans for the design of the mechanical distribution systems; and working with consulting engineers on preparing distribution systems.

 A clear knowledge of International and local plumbing and mechanical codes is a must.  In addition, an advanced knowledge of piping systems, including chilled water, heating, potable water, sanitary, drainage and venting.

Responsibilities·     Directs and coordinate the layout and implementation of the varied mechanical systems ·     Assist in the procurement of all materials and equipment needed to complete the project within the given schedules ·     Detailing of equipment connections·      Coordinate the activities of the piping systems with the development of long-term expansion and      reconstruction programs·     Prepare cost estimates for changes or alterations in the project scope inclusive of labor, equipment, and materials needed·     Review architectural plans and schedules to ensure proper installation scheduling and design criteria are met·     Works with consulting and resident engineers on design and performance issue that arise during the construction project period·     Plan, organize, lay out, and supervise a variety of mechanical work projects ·     Supervise plumbing and piping crew(s); delegating responsibilities·     Supervise and train as required staff on the proper installation and code compliant   procedures ·     Adhere to safety policies and procedures·     Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders·     Prepare progress reports and maintain records and perform related work as required·     Supervise the work of others including all subcontractors·     Ensure quality control of all mechanical work including subcontractors·     Manage cost on projects working with the project managers and estimators to ensure project does not exceed budget      Qualifications·  High school education certificate, vocational school, with mechanical courses from a technical school·  College or university preferred·  Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program·  Thorough knowledge of the methods, techniques, equipment, tools, and materials used in the mechanical trades·  Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the workplace environment·  Ability to understand and efficiently carry out written and oral instructions including the interpretation of drawings and blueprints·  Ability to estimate the amounts of labor, material, and equipment required for future projects and prepare cost estimates·  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other divisions and trades ·  7+ years  in the building systems and plumbing mechanical trades including supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience·  Proven abilities and experience in maintaining professional relationships with parties involved within the building trades industry
