Job Description

BAC Group is looking to employ a qualified Sprinkler Fitter for Service and Inspections for several commercial and/or industrial Clients. The successful applicant must provide testing and Inspection of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems to NFPA 25 standards. In addition, the applicant must be able to repair and maintain fire pumps and related equipment and be capable of making field modifications to previously engineered systems in compliance with various NFPA standards.

Responsibilities•      Read and interpret mechanical drawings of building systems, understand verbal instructions, and generate or interpret sketches generated by others•     Manage and maintain contract/job site documentation including test reports, change orders and as-built drawings•      Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipelines using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods.

Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems, units, fittings and related machines and equipment following specifications and using hand and power tools•      Responsible for the operation of the fire protection sprinkler systems consisting of pressure reducing, gate and butterfly valves and all fire protection/suppression and fire control systems, including sprinkler water lines, standpipes and hose connections to sprinkler systems, air lines, jockey pumps and standpipes connected to sprinkler systems, etc.

•      The ability to install underground piping, install fire hydrants, and the testing of fire hydrants•      Install fire protection sprinkler systems, stationary fire pumps, special hazard systems to standards•      Install, commission, and service electric and diesel fire pumps•      Perform accurate material takeoffs for estimating and procurement•     Work on preauction systems, gas systems and other Special Hazard Systems•     Gather, procure, and deliver to site, all materials and equipment required to execute assigned jobsEnsure project results are achieved within financial and productivity budgets Qualifications•       Must have a High School Diploma or GED•     Valid sprinkler fitter certification to North American standards is required; steamfitter and/or pipe fitter license a plus•     Knowledgeable of NFPA 12, 13, 14, 20, 25 and 2001 rules and all necessary codes•     5-7 years documented recent installation, testing & inspection of Fire Sprinkler Systems•     Must follow all safety procedures•       Good written and oral communication skills•       Must be physically fit to perform the work of the trade.

Requires the ability to climb and maneuver on ladders, staging, work platforms and/or spaces that are tight or confined, such as manholes. Crawling over and around equipment located in building pipe chases and mechanical rooms or construction areas is a must•       Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. •        Must have a valid driver’s license
