These projects include the EA app, EA Play, our cross-platform subscription service, and different consumer experiences and e-commerce solutions that connect players across platforms.In your role as a Backend Software Engineer, you will work with a team to build backend APIs to support teams within EAX. You will collaborate across departments (Design, Engineering, QA, Project Management) and other internal customers to align and implement. You will also be a regular consumer of data to analyze performance of our live service products and collaborate with our senior engineers to identify live service opportunities to create richer player experiences. You will report to the Associate Technical Director as a core contributor to the EAX team, based in EA Vancouver, with a hybrid work schedule.ResponsibilitiesBuild testable modular backend components / features and debug live issues.Collaborate with other developers to promote the culture of performance, maintainability, quality and automation in the team.Collaborate across departments ( Design, Engineering, QA, Project Management ) and other internal customers to align and implement.Learn new technologies and apply new techniques to improve existing solutions.On-call responsibilities (such as reacting to pages and evaluating live issues)Qualifications4+ years of experience in a technical role focused on development and operation of complex live services.Experience building, enhancing, maintaining backend APIs.Experience with GraphQL, NodeJS, Kubernetes, Docker and Databases.Experience with HTTP, HTTP caching, web servers, Linux and AWS.Familiarity using Java for backend server-side development.Supported and developed for a live service product.Experience in CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab)BonusFamiliarity with Event-driven Systems.Familiarity working with a content management system such as Contentful.Compensation And BenefitsThe ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).PAY RANGES British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$100,000 - $139,500 CADIn British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees.
