Job Description

MAIN OBJECTIVEEnsures administrative and operational control is exercised for the shipment of dangerous goods. Monitors all records and information systems for the cargo services system wide and investigates day-to-day problems in the mishandling of cargo shipments. Monitors system wide station performance ensuring all standards and procedures adhered to. Monitors all ULD system requests ensuring ULD Control is effective and achieves maximum utilisation of ULDs system wide. MAIN DUTIESObtains all necessary authorisation for carriage of Munitions on GF aircraft. Prepares monthly reports for DGCA Oman recording all dangerous Goods shipments on GF aircraft.

Maintains records of qualification in Dangerous Goods handling for all GF outstation cargo personnel plus records of all training courses and proficiency qualification. Ensure procedures regarding special cargo are strictly adhered to. Investigates all cases of mishandling of cargo and mail shipments. Analyses causes and effects. Recommends corrective action. Assigns responsibility for errors so that disciplinary action can be taken when appropriate. Ensures all system wide requests for ULDs are actioned effectively to achieve smooth ULD operation. Monitor the loading and off-loading of cargo and or ULD equipment.

Ensure correctness of CPM, UCM, and LDM messages as transmitted by handling agents. Monitors monthly demurrage cost due to/from OAL to ensure GF interests safeguarded. Maintains current outstation cargo handling contracts and ensures that they are complete in all necessary level of detail. Maintains complete records of all outstation cargo office and warehouse accommodation plus capital asset equipment. Assist outstation in raising requisitions for cargo equipment or personnel. Deputises for ULD Control Officer and Cargo Claims Officer in their absences. Handles and distribute all telex and main correspondence for the service unit.

EDUCATION AND TRAININGThe jobholder must be educated up to OND level or equivalent. Specialist training in handling special cargo specifically dangerous goods. ExperienceMinimum 3 years airline experience in cargo and operations, ramp handling matters.
