Learn to Earn Bake for Profit Trainer at Learn to EarnDeadline:12 December 2025 Region:Western Cape - Khayelitsha Salary:+-R15000 Type of employment:Full time Job DescriptionLearn to Earn invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the vacancy of Bake for Profit (BfP) Trainer, based at our Khayelitsha Campus. The Bake for Profit Trainer will report to the Branch Manager and is responsible for day-to-day training, course planning, preparation, delivery, administration and reporting regarding the LtE Bake for Profit Skills Training programme.BackgroundOur Social Enterprise – Ground UP Business operates as a division of Learn to Earn Development Enterprise (Pty) Ltd. Training interventions provided by Learn to Earn are circumstantial, practical and market related. What is innovative about Learn to Earn is the methodology and ethos behind its training interventions. The ethos of the organization is about rebuilding the self-esteem, dignity, self-respect and ambition of our trainees. Our vision and mission are applied through offering skills training and job creation activities to the unemployed.Roles and ResponsibilitiesProvide training in our Bake for Profit Skills programme according to set curriculum to Learn to Earn students focusing on a holistic approach. Ensure the correct, safe and proper baking, cooking and cleaning techniques related to each recipe are used. Assessment and moderation of student work. Updating the training material in consultation with counterparts on other campus, Branch Managers and Chief Operating Officer (COO) on a regular basis. Order the required consumables through Procurement Office and do regular stock takes of supplies. Facilitate practical demonstrations to show various cooking and baking techniques. Promote and market the Bake for Profit course offered at Learn to Earn. Administer all course requirements including assessment and registration of students, collection and capturing of fees, keeping of attendance records, competency assessments, compiling monthly and annual course reports, preparation of certificates and assisting with graduation ceremonies. LtE is the intellectual property (IP) owner of Bake for Profit, with the backing and sponsorship of a corporate donor. The successful incumbent will also be responsible for:All administration and networking between partner organisations implementing the Bake for Profit Course nationally (other NGO’s training Bake-for-Profit) Administer and monitor standardized practices with partner organisation and reporting on implementation of Bake for Profit. Overseeing, issuing and maintaining all equipment, supplies and material both to partner organisations and within LtE BfP course. Qualifications And RequirementsBe in possession of a relevant qualification in Consumer Science or Culinary Arts is required, or Baking. Matric/Grade 12 with Consumer Science is needed. Acts with the highest integrity, honesty, professionalism and ethics in all matters of work and personal life. Have previous training/facilitator experience with the ability to train and explain theory and translate this into practical lessons. Must have at least 3 years’ exposure and experience in the Food and Baking sector with a passion for cooking and baking. Apply strict and thorough food hygiene standards in food preparation, classroom hygiene and neatness. Must be high performance orientated, can work independently, have functional proficiency, and initiative. Must have good computer and administrative skills. Ability to meet deadlines is essential as well as attention to detail. Able to interact comfortably and effectively within an inter-cultural environment made up of different social, economic, cultural, and educational backgrounds and be team orientated. Good report writing and well-developed communication skills in English (knowledge of isiXhosa/Afrikaans would be beneficial). Be physically fit and able to lift, move, stand for long periods of time and knead bread, etc. Have proven understanding of budgets and costing of recipes with an understanding of metric and imperial measurements. Possess a valid driver’s licence- Code B minimum. Learn to Earn (LtE) is a registered Christian skills development organisation which seeks to develop people, especially unemployed people, socially, economically, emotionally, and spiritually. As such this is a team ministry, and the following will also be required in addition to the above:Hold to LtE’s statement of faith and be an active member of an evangelical church. Participate, contribute, and engage in weekly staff devotions and prayer meetings. To participate in the employer’s Annual Staff Retreat.We go away together to do staff development and spiritual growth seminars. To participate in the employer’s Annual General Meetings and other organisational functions (awareness and fundraisers) which may be held after hours, during the week or on a Saturday. To be co-responsible for the continued development of the employer. To promote the employer and obtain financial support thereof. The employee will be expected to do things that fall outside of the ambit of their job description, such as sweeping, cleaning, covering for and helping other staff. This is a team ministry.
