We’re looking for an experienced and hands-on Finance Process Improvement Lead to help transform how finance operates at a small, fast-growing Australian bank.
Reporting to our Head of Financial Reporting, this 9-month contract is critical to driving operational efficiency, improving accuracy, and embedding automation across key finance processes. This role is all about focus: you’ll work on one finance process at a time — redesigning it for clarity, control, and automation where relevant. It’s hands-on, operational, and strategic all in one. You’ll be key to driving greater efficiency, accuracy, and scalability in our finance function. Key responsibilities: Lead the end-to-end review, redesign, and remediation of targeted finance processes, focusing on one process at a time.
Collaborate with finance and cross-functional stakeholders to map current state processes, identify inefficiencies, and design fit-for-purpose solutions. Develop and implement streamlined processes that enhance accuracy, reduce manual effort, and enable automation where feasible. Build documentation, workflows, and controls to support sustainable change. Champion a continuous improvement mindset within the finance team. All about youWe’re seeking a results-driven, passionate professional who is ready to take the role and make it their own. You’ll bring: 5+ years’ experience in finance process improvement, finance operations, or related roles (banking or financial services preferred). Strong understanding of core finance processes. Proven ability to lead process improvement initiatives with measurable outcomes. Hands-on experience with process mapping, gap analysis, and workflow documentation. Familiarity with automation tools (e. g. Excel macros, or similar) a strong plus. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to work independently, prioritise, and deliver outcomes on time.
