You will be part of a nationwide team of over 200 engineers and industry experts passionate about the positive impact they have through the projects they deliver. You will be joining a diverse and talented team with a vast breadth of knowledge and track record, where innovation and delivering the best for our clients is at the heart of every decision we make. Beca’s site-based Project Engineers enable you to be part of the team working onsite with clients, contractors and vendors to deliver a diverse range of projects across New Zealand.
We have opportunities in Southland, Hawkes Bay, Waikato, Auckland and Northland. These roles provide significant career development opportunities through the variety of client sites we have a presence on across industries including minerals & metals, food & life science, wood & fibre, energy and manufacturing. You also enjoy the challenge of working across multiple green and brownfield projects with different timelines and deliverables, as well as having responsibility for delivery of your part of a project within the team. While each client site you work at will be different in terms of scope and scale, key role elements include: Lead project delivery:
Oversee project delivery from the business case, planning, management, design through to construction and commissioning, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget, with project size ranging up to capital of $8m. Coordinate teams: Work closely with an integrated team, including designers, contractors, and stakeholders, to ensure seamless collaboration and delivery. Monitor project progress: Track milestones, address any risks or challenges, and ensure all tasks across design and construction are delivered to schedule and meet quality standards. Budget management: Manage project finances, including cost tracking, forecasting, and ensuring spend aligns with objectives for projects up to $8m.
Health & Safety compliance: Ensure all activities adhere to site health and safety requirements and regulations, creating a positive safety culture on-site. Stakeholder communication: Maintain clear, proactive communication with clients, internal teams, and external partners throughout the project lifecycle. Network: develop and grow relationships with clients and the Beca team within the industrial businessProblem-solving: Take ownership of issues that arise during project delivery and resolve them quickly and effectively. Reporting: Provide regular updates on project performance, risks, and successes to senior management and stakeholders. Process improvements: Identify opportunities to improve project workflows and implement best practices.
Being based on site means you will be applying your relationship building abilities, working with site teams with deep knowledge and expertise on the operations across the site. You will be able to apply your abilities in connecting with, listening and understanding, collaborating and delivering projects in a way that adds value to the onsite teams, and in a way that works for them.

Mōu ake | About youTo be successful in this role, you will be a Project Engineer looking to make a difference with a passion for project delivery excellence and ability to be site based for extended periods. You are confident and independent, love to learn and share knowledge and are someone who can bring a fresh perspective. You will also have an enquiring mind and be able to problem-solve and think laterally.
You have grown your project engineering experience through working on projects for heavy industrial, food and beverage processing facilities, or related industrial sites such as power or water assets. You will have experience in leading the delivery of projects up to $8M (capital) and managing client relationships. Experience working on-site building relationships with operations teams and the related requirements of being on site, will be an advantage.
