Behavioral Health Specialist

Behavioral Health Specialists are a key component of theinterdisciplinary team that provide support services for patients withSubstance Use Disorders. The role of the BHS is to monitor clientsduring the detox process and in early recovery. BHS staff will workclosely with nursing to provide evidence-based care to our patients withSUD. BHS?s will perform functions efficiently and thoroughly to assurethat the patients are safe during the detox process. BHS staff willassist that the staff are supported during the admission process, day today clinical activities and discharge. Schedule varies. Days eveningsand weekends will be required. Bachelor?s Degree in related field isPreferred. Significant Experience Working With Those Suffering FromSubstance Use Disorder, or other human services work strongly preferred.Relates to clients and colleagues in a compassionate, professional, andrespectful manner as measured by observed interactions. Assures safetyand support to all clients admitted to The Dimock Center. Able toassess, communicate effectively and maintain therapeutic boundariesthrough setting limits and enforcing structure and rules of the programin a respectful manner. Supports all milieu staff in all aspects of theprogram including: safety checks, client and room searches, supportingclient?s admission and discharge processes. Participates in creating awelcoming and supportive environment for new clients in the program.Recognizes the importance of individual and cultural differences thatinfluence patient behavior and applies this understanding to the care ofpatients. Participates in the patient admission process; providesexplanation of Dimock paperwork and completes all necessary intakedocumentation. Conduct property search of clients? belongings onadmission and discharge. Observes and reports to Nurses clients whoappear sick, agitated or depressed.
