Job Description

MAINTENANCE PLANNEROperationsAccountable for oversight and management of all maintenance operations, ensuring machinery, equipment, and infrastructure operate efficiently, safely, and reliably, minimizing downtime and maximizing production output. Job PurposeResponsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all maintenance activities, to ensure optimal functioning of equipment, facilities, and infrastructure.

Key Accountabilities and OutputsMaintenance planning and scheduling (preventitive, corrective and predictive)Plant maintenance module relevant to CMMSEquipment master data managementJob card creation and resource coordinationParts, tools and resource availability planningMaintenance performance reporting and continuous improvementCommunication and stakeholder coordinationPreventitive & Predictive Maintenance PlanningDevelop, schedule, and optimize PM tasks in line with OEM standards and internal best practicesPlan and schedule inspections, lubrication calibration, and condition-based tasks to ensure equipment reliabilityEnsure that preventitive plans are reviewed and updated periodically based on equipment performanceMaintenance Work Management & SchedulingConvert maintenance notifications into work orders with clear scope, required materials, and labour estimatesSchedcule daily, weekly and shutdown maintenance plans in coordination with the production and maintenance teamsAllocate tasks based on artisan availability and skill set, ensuring minimal disruption to operationsResource & Material CoordinationEnsure all materials, tools, and spare parts are available before scheduled maintenance beginsCollaborate with engineering stores and techincal administrator to expedite procurement or issue partsTrack consumption of critical spares and maintain minimum stock levels through system updatesEnsure procured materials meet specifications, quality standards, and are cost-efficientEnsure critical parts are available to minimize downtime.

Manage inventory of spare parts and supplies. Maintenance System Administration & Data IntegrityEnsure accurate entry and update of technical object data task list, and maintenance history in the CMMSManage maintenance master data integrity and structure (equipment task group, maintenance plans)Generate and distribute reports on work order backlog. PM compliance, and overdue tasksCompliance, Safety & Continuous ImprovementsightsPromote a safety-first culture among maintenance staff. Maintain records for audits and inspections. Team Leadership and SupportManage documentation, maintain records, and work ordering processing. Supervise maintenance technicians, electricians, and mechanical staff. Provide training and development to ensure team skill levels remain high.

Assign tasks, set performance goals, and conduct evaluations. Building strong relationships with maintenance teams, production, stores, and engineering stakeholders. General Operational and Financial ManagementDevelop and manage maintenance budgets. Track and control maintenance expenses. Identify cost-saving opportunities through process improvement. Ensure adherence to operational and financial frameworks of practices, processes, standards and controls.

Control cost and take the necessary action to mitigate any financial risks or non-complianceActively participate in operational planning and budgeting processesEffectively track production volumes and monitor customer demand patterns and purchasing trendsProblem SolvingProactive identification of functional problems related to a specific process or policy, determine cause and impact, and choose the best alternative to solve the problem based on guidelines provided and an understanding of the theory or practices underpinning the problem.

Qualifications And ExperienceMinimum N6/National diploma in mechanical or electrical engineeting or equivalemnfUp to 4 years' experience (Operational Execution) Planning in FMCG environment;Experience with CMMS and maintenance best practicesBackground in asset care, reliability-centred maintenanceWorking knowledge of production and maintenance integrationMS Excel; SAP; MS PowerPoint; MS Word; E MailBehavioural CompetenciesPlanning and OrganisingManages time effectively, ensuring effective completion of tasks under stressful deadlines. Able to prioritise activities and resources, ensuring that results are achieved effectively. Able to evaluate progress and make appropriate adjustments to initial plans, ensuring a successful outcome. CollaborationMeets commitments to team members or others in the organisation.

Actively contributes to team discussions and the accomplishment of team work plans. Shares expertise and resources to help others address their needs. Coordinate with production, engineering, and quality departments to support plant operations. Assist with project planning, facility expansions, and new equipment installations.
