The Chemist's primary responsibility is to actively oversee and coordinate the receipt, storage, processing, and disposal of hazardous waste. This role is crucial in ensuring that all waste materials are assessed and managed in strict accordance with regulatory standards, prioritizing Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance. Additionally, the Chemist is expected to drive continuous improvements in operational efficiency and productivity while maintaining best practices in hazardous waste management.
Your Core ResponsibilitiesPlan and prioritise daily operations, adapting to service demands for safe, efficient, and compliant performanceLead by example to strengthen health, safety, and environmental cultureEnsure secure waste management, from entry to disposal, minimising costs while meeting company and customer requirementsMaintain compliance, ensuring inputs and outputs meet regulatory standards while driving cost control and efficiencyAnalyse sales samples, advise on treatment options, and provide customer quotationsManage stock and inventory of waste and consumables within budgeted costsUphold high housekeeping standards and enforce company policies and proceduresWork closely with Transport to manage inputs/outputs, ensuring compliance and customer SLA fulfilmentRequirementsOur essential requirementsExperience as a Chemist in a Hazardous Waste Management business or chemical/manufacturing industry.
Minimum of a HNC Chemistry Qualification. Hazardous Treatment & Transfer CoTC is desirable however not essential. Knowledge & understanding of the requirements of working within a time critical hazardous waste processing environment would be ideal. Comprehensive understanding of chemical process safetyAnalytical with the ability to measure & monitor data and take appropriate actionOrganised with the ability to simplify complex issuesWillingness to travel within the UK for business meetings and project work at other locations.
