SAGE is committed to helping clients navigate regulatory complexities while ensuring ecological integrity and sustainable project outcomes.Role DescriptionThis is a hybrid Biologist role based in the Greater Calgary Metropolitan Area, with some flexibility for remote work. Biologists of all levels are encouraged to apply and will be considerd based on fit. Roles involve conducting field studies, including wildlife and vegetation surveys, wetland assessments, and watercourse evaluations. Responsibilities include preparing environmental impact assessments, mitigation plans, and restoration or monitoring plans. The Intermediate Biologist will collaborate with project teams, manage regulatory permitting processes, and ensure compliance with ecological regulations and standards. The role may also involve mentoring junior staff and maintaining strong client relationships.QualificationsField biology skills, including wildlife and vegetation surveys, preconstruction assessments, and habitat evaluations.Expertise in wetland and watercourse assessments, environmental permitting, and regulatory compliance (e.g., Water Act Applications).Strong technical writing skills for preparing reports such as environmental impact assessments, mitigation plans, and restoration plans.Knowledge of species at risk, rare plant and ecological communities, and terrestrial and aquatic ecology principles.Proficiency in analyzing data and ensuring accurate and compliant documentation.Excellent communication and collaborative skills for working with project teams and maintaining client relationships.Ability to work both in the field and in an office/home setting, and manage multiple projects effectively.Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Ecology, or a related field.Experience with environmental monitoring and management planning is an asset.
