This role is ideal for a senior environmental professional with a strong background in wetland ecology and Alberta’s regulatory landscape.The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in biophysical assessments, wetland regulatory submissions, and team leadership. This is a dynamic position offering a hybrid of field and office work, technical leadership, project oversight, and business development responsibilities.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage biophysical projects including wetland, watercourse, wildlife, and vegetation assessmentsProvide technical and regulatory guidance to internal teams and clients in AlbertaLead regulatory submissions under the Water Act and Alberta Wetland Policy, including wetland delineation, classification, impact assessment, mitigation planning, and permittingOversee project planning, scheduling, staffing, and deliverablesPrepare and/or senior review technical reports, work plans, proposals, and cost estimatesSupport business development activities and maintain client relationshipsMentor and support the growth of junior staffAssist with multidisciplinary environmental projects as neededQualifications and ExperiencePost-secondary degree in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Resource Management, or a related disciplineMinimum of 10 years of relevant experience in environmental consulting or wetland ecologyAccreditation as an Authenticating Wetland Practitioner (AWP) and/or Qualified Aquatic Environmental Specialist (QAES)Strong understanding of Alberta’s environmental regulatory frameworks, including the Water Act, Alberta Wetland Policy, and Public Lands ActProven experience preparing and submitting Wetland Assessment and Impact Forms (WAIF), Wetland Assessment and Impact Reports (WAIR), and using the Wetland Rapid Evaluation ToolExperience conducting a broad variety of wetlands-specific scopes of work in both pre-construction and construction settingsDemonstrated ability to manage and execute field programs in remote and challenging environmentsAdvanced proficiency in plant identification and ecological classificationStrong technical writing skills, with experience as a senior reviewer and authenticating professionalProject management experience is an assetExperience with watercourse crossing assessments is considered an advantageWhat We OfferCompetitive salary and benefits packageFlexible work arrangements including hybrid office/field rolesA supportive and collaborative work environmentProfessional development and leadership opportunitiesDiverse and engaging project work across AlbertaHow to ApplyInterested candidates are invited to submit a resume and cover letter to: careers@rrec.caApplications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
