The Commercial NOJV Team is responsible for managing the incorporated and unincorporated upstream joint ventures (“IJV” and “UJV” respectively) with upstream JV assets being at various stages within the exploration, development, and production life cycle. The role will focus in the near team on the management of our interests in the upstream JVs at a senior level but may also support other aspects of within the NOJV portfolio.
The NOJV Commercial Advisor will assume commercial accountability and delivery in the areas of JV stakeholder and agreement management, business case development, internal functional integration with Reservoir Development and Exploration, cash delivery and JV asset strategy. Key AccountabilitiesPartner ManagementAct as BP’s representative or provide advice and guidance to the BP representative on the JV Operating Committees and ensure appropriate functional representation and advice as appropriate. Ensure BP’s positions are well represented within the JV when defining plans and secure timely JV approval for all planned activity. Report to various team members on asset performance.
Maintain strong relationships with JV partners and collaboratorsAgreement ManagementProtect and promote BP’s interests through deep understanding of and compliance with rights and obligations within JV agreementsIdentify and manage contractual risks and opportunities.
Ensuring compliance with the Upstream Joint Venture Management Policy (UJVMP)Investment Governance (IG)Lead the development of the business case for all investment options, including Financial Memoranda (FMs), functional assurance and approval, ensuring robust consistent application of BP investment frameworks (GIAAP and EEM) Plan and forecast upcoming Investment Governance requirementsCommercial Optimization and RiskIdentify, prioritize and co-ordinate the delivery of asset value options in support of delivering cash optionsUpdate and develop NOJV risk management plans ensuring compliance with BP’s NOJV risk processPlanning and ForecastingResponsible for quality inputs on JV assets for Area Development Plans (ADP), quarterly planning and performance reporting and processes, and Project Performance /Effectiveness of Investment submissionsMonitor delivery against budgets, highlighting potential risks and opportunitiesNegotiationsCoordinate the delivery of new or amended joint ventures agreements, including the negotiation of same (farm-outs, Joint Operating Agreements, transportation and processing agreements, etc)RequirementsBachelor’s degree or equivalent from accredited University, preferably in a business, finance, or engineering field10 years’ experience in commercial or financeComputer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft applications.
