This leader is responsible for driving operational excellence, labor efficiency, service performance, safety compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. The role will oversee multiple warehouse teams and ensure alignment with company objectives across inventory control, order fulfillment, receiving, shipping, and facility optimization.
The Director will serve as a key cross-functional partner to Sales, Supply Chain, Delivery, and HR, and will assist the warehouse function in executive discussions. This position requires a visionary, data-driven leader capable of developing talent, deploying scalable systems, implementing problem solving methodologies, and managing complex beverage logistics operations—specifically in the beer, wine, and spirits sector. Job DescriptionJob Responsibilities: Leadership and Team Management: Lead the warehouse team to foster collaboration and efficiency. Ensure leaders train new employees in machinery use and warehouse operations. Support all operational activities, including receiving, sorting, picking, loading, maintenance, sanitation, and returns.
Analytics and Improvement: Use Network standard KPIs and warehouse analytics to identify trends and drive improvements. Operational Strategy Execution: Implement standardized strategies to support growth, customer service, and warehouse distribution optimization. Continuous Improvement: Direct efforts in safety, quality, customer service, productivity, and cost reduction. Industrial Engineering: Utilize industrial engineering and associated concepts to enhance operations. Operational Process Development: Develop and implement sustainable operational processes, standard routines, and scalable procedures that drive consistent performance, reduce variability, and ensure long-term efficiency and reliability across warehouse functions. Facility Maintenance Oversight: Oversee facility and system maintenance, including inspections, repairs, and improvements. Employee Engagement:
Enhance engagement and retention through feedback loops, town halls, and cross-functional collaboration. Financial Management: Assist in budget preparation, control costs, and maximize asset utilization. Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety standards, including footwear protocols, and address violations promptly. Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned, to support the overall success of the warehouse operations. Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in supply chain, Logistics, Operations Management, or related field and/or equivalent training and work experienceMinimum of 8 years of warehouse or distribution leadership experience, ideally within the food and/or beverage distribution industry. Proven success managing large-scale, high-volume operations.
Deep knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), voice-pick technology, RF scanning, and material handling equipment. Strong analytical skillsProven Leadership, organizational, and change management skills. Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, work independently and/or within a team, and possess strong attention to detail. Analytical and Reporting skills that use data to drive operational decisions. Utilize sound judgement and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in fast-paced, high-volume, team environment. Ability to work a flexible schedule that will include early mornings, late evenings, and weekends to allow interaction across all warehouse and delivery operations and teams.
Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of Warehouse Management SystemsKnowledge of Industrial Engineering and associated conceptsStrong business acumen and organizational skillsExperience managing a union environment.
