Minimum of a PA Credential of Competency for Paraeducators or an Associate’s Degree (Bachelor’s degreepreferred)Understand the characteristics of the various disabilitiesAbility to communicate with colleagues, follow instructions, and use problem-solving and other skills thatwill enable the paraeducator to work as an effective member of the instructional teamConduct small group instruction, provide individualized instruction, and demonstrate various instructionalactivities, as prescribed by the teacherAssist the teacher with planning and organizing instructional activities and develop classroom proceduresAwareness of and respect for diversity among children, families, and colleaguesUse strategies, equipment, materials, and technologies, as directed, to accomplish instructional objectivesDemonstrate proficiency in academic skills, including oral and written communicationProficiency with computers and applications (e.
g. , Microsoft Office 365, Excel, Word, Power Point, Canvas,Skyward, etc. )Teaching certification preferred, but not required. Must pass background checks and meet district/state employment requirements.
