The Royal Livingstone Hotel by Anantara is committed to exceptional and personalized service delivery.Job DescriptionBricklayer / Tiler Responsibilities:Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout and project requirementsMeasure, mark, and arrange bricks, tiles, or blocks according to design specificationsMix, spread, and level mortar or cement on work surfacesLay and align bricks, tiles, or blocks in various patterns, ensuring proper spacing and levelingCut or trim bricks, tiles, or blocks to fit around obstacles or into tight spaces using power saws or hand toolsApply and smooth grout between tiles, bricks, or blocksInstall waterproofing or vapor barriers as neededRepair and maintain existing brickwork or tiled surfacesEnsure proper curing of mortar, cement, and groutClean and polish newly installed tile surfacesEstimate material requirements and costs for projectsCoordinate with other construction professionals (e.g., plumbers, electricians) to ensure proper installation around fixtures and outletsMaintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety regulations and guidelinesProperly use, maintain, and store tools and equipmentStay updated on new materials, techniques, and industry standardsTrain and mentor apprentices or less experienced team membersCommunicate effectively with clients, supervisors, and team members about project progress and any issuesPerform quality checks on completed work to ensure it meets project specifications and industry standardsPrepare surfaces for installation, including cleaning, leveling, and applying necessary primers or sealantsAssist in the creation of decorative or custom designs using various materials and techniquesProperly dispose of waste materials and recycle when possibleMaintain accurate records of materials used, time spent, and project detailsTroubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the installation processParticipate in ongoing professional development and training opportunitiesQualificationsBricklayer / Tiler Qualifications:Required:High school diploma or equivalentCompletion of a recognized apprenticeship program in bricklaying or tilingMinimum of 2 years of experience as a bricklayer or tilerProficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specificationsStrong knowledge of building codes and safety regulationsExcellent hand-eye coordination and physical dexterityAbility to work at heights and in various weather conditionsValid driver's license and reliable transportationPreferred:Craft certificate in construction technology or related fieldAdditional certifications in specialized areas (e.g., stone masonry, restoration)Experience with both residential and commercial projectsProficiency in using digital tools for measurements and estimationsKnowledge of green building practices and sustainable materialsBilingual skills (English/Spanish) to communicate with diverse workforceSkills and Abilities:Strong mathematical and spatial reasoning skillsExcellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanshipAbility to work independently and as part of a teamGood problem-solving and decision-making skillsEffective communication skills, both verbal and writtenTime management and organizational skillsAdaptability to changing project requirements and schedulesPhysical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs)Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning new techniquesTools and Technology:Proficiency in using various hand and power tools specific to bricklaying and tilingFamiliarity with mixing and application equipment for mortar, grout, and adhesivesBasic computer skills for communication and record-keeping purposesAdditional Requirements:Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or irregular hours as project demandsWillingness to travel to different job sites within the local areaAdditional InformationFull grade twelve school certificateThree traceable referees with mobile numbers and emailsClosing date: 30th October 2025
