Position Title: Junior WAG CoachReports to: Artistic Programme Manager Position Type: CasualLocation: Pulman Recreation Centre POSITION OBJECTIVE Bruce Pulman Park is seeking a motivated and technically skilled Junior WAG Coach to join our vibrant Artistic Gymnastics team. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate individual to help develop young athletes in our Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) recreational and competitive programmes. About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for leading the technical development and training of gymnasts within our WAG junior programme, ensuring athletes are coached to reach their individual potential.
You will play a key role in maintaining a strong club culture, supporting junior coaches, and implementing athlete-focused training and development plans in collaboration with other staff. Key ResponsibilitiesCoaching and Athlete Development· Coach and mentor gymnasts within the WAG programme as directed by the Artistic Programme Manager. · Coach and mentor junior coaching staff, including developing their technical capability. · Provide hands-on spotting and technical correction. · Support and develop athletes from Step 1–6. · Ensure athlete training, conduct, safety, and discipline are maintained at all times. Programme Planning & Support· Design and implement WAG junior development plans in line with individual athlete needs.
· Align recreational programmes with the Springboard pathway. · Personalise plans under guidance of the Head Coach. · Maintain accurate class coaching ratios and assist with scheduling recreational coach meetings. · Attend competitions, training camps, staff meetings, and development opportunities when required. Operational Duties· Lead by example and encourage participation in all WAG events and initiatives. · Promote and uphold all centre policies and procedures. · Provide WAG programme content for communications, reports, and social media. · Ensure safe use of all equipment and follow Health & Safety and reporting protocols. · Provide or delegate cleaning assistance at the end of each training session.
· Assist with centre events and contribute to a positive team environment. Stakeholder Engagement· Foster strong, long-term relationships with gymnasts, their parents, staff, and key stakeholders. · Demonstrate exceptional customer service and relationship management skills. Skills & Qualifications · WAG Junior Coach Qualification (minimum required). · Ability to work unsupervised with a proactive and self-motivated attitude. · Strong attention to detail with a desire to innovate and collaborate for ongoing improvement. · Positive, adaptable, and team-oriented approach to coaching and development. · Experience with choreography specific to apparatus. · Ability to lead and technically support other coaches. · Knowledge of Health & Safety protocols, including basic first aid.
