1.0FTE (4O hours a week)Permanent roleMonday to FridayAbout the role:Our Building Compliance team are responsible for undertaking the territorial authority functions under the Building Act, ensuring buildings in Selwyn are safe and fit for purpose. Working with our community you'll promote a culture of building compliance and understanding, supporting and being empathetic while achieving the necessary outcomes.You will work as part of our close-knit team to deliver a superior end to end customer experience.Your key responsibilities will include:Service request investigationsCustomer engagement, education and conflict resolutionBuilding compliance assessmentsAssessing discretionary exemption and certificates of acceptance applicationsIssuing building noticesReport writingAbout you:Our ideal candidate will:have BCA or relevant TA experience, or several years of practical building experiencebe calm, honest and approachable with excellent interpersonal skillsbe detail oriented with the ability to see the big picturecan make technical decisions using sound judgement, risk analysis and research.You will also have:An understanding and application of the Building Act, Regulations, Building Code, and Standards.High level digital literacy and experience in a range of software applications.Excellent time management.A NZ Diploma in Building Surveying (Level 6) or equivalent NZ qualification.Current Class 1 driver's licence.What we can offer:Great work-life balance with flexibilityCareer coaching and developmentLife insuranceWellbeing and volunteer leaveThree days paid leave between Christmas and New YearTwo weeks paid Partners LeaveSick leave from day oneContinued KiwiSaver contributions during savings suspensionDiscounts with local and national businessesAbout us:Selwyn is one of the fastest-growing districts in New Zealand.
