JOB TITLE: Electrical Engineer (Commissioning)LOCATION: FrankfurtCommissioning Engineer for HV Substation Projects across Europe(Suitable candidates must be willing and able to travel) Job Summary: The HV Substation Commissioning Engineer is responsible for overseeing the successful commissioning and integration of new high-voltage (HV) electrical substations. This includes managing the end-to-end commissioning process, from site acceptance testing to final energization and handover to the client. The Commissioning Engineer will work closely with the construction team, electrical engineers, and utility providers to ensure the substation meets all technical, safety, and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities:
Develop and manage the detailed commissioning plan, schedule, and budget for the HV substation projectCoordinate and lead commissioning activities, including site inspections, testing, and system integrationManage the procurement of specialized testing equipment, tools, and consumables required for commissioningOversee the execution of all site acceptance tests, functional tests, and performance verificationsEnsure the substation meets all relevant electrical safety standards, grid codes, and utility requirementsIdentify and mitigate project risks, issues, and changes throughout the commissioning lifecycleManage stakeholder communications, including regular progress reporting to project leadershipDevelop comprehensive commissioning documentation, including test results, inspection reports, and handover materialsProvide post-commissioning support and coordinate any remedial work or system optimizations Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related technical discipline4+ years of experience in the commissioning of high-voltage electrical substations and power systemsExtensive knowledge of HV electrical equipment, protection and control systems, and substation design principlesStrong understanding of HV substation design, operation, and maintenance, including knowledge of industry standards (e. g. , IEC, IEEE). Proficient in the application of electrical testing methods, instrumentation, and safety proceduresStrong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Strong project management skills with the ability to develop and execute detailed commissioning plansExcellent communication and stakeholder management capabilitiesFamiliarity with relevant electrical standards, grid codes, and regulatory requirementsProfessional engineering (P. Eng. ) or equivalent certification is preferredPreferred Experience: Large Scale Data Center Hyperscale Data Center
